Proverbs 10:29 The Strong Way

Proverbs 10:29 The Strong Way

Proverbs 10:29

The way of the Lord is a stronghold for the upright, But ruin to the workers of injustice.

In the book of Acts, the chapter 9 gospel written by Luke, the followers of Jesus are called the Way, they were known by this name before the nickname Christians were given to followers of Christ. It really doesn’t take much of genius or Bible scholar why they called themselves this, the very powerful Bible passage written in the gospel according to John chapter 14, Jesus stated I am the way the truth to life. The word stronghold in Proverbs chapter 10:29 is a fortress or a king’s castle, and the proverb clearly says, the Lord is stronghold a fortress for righteous or upright, the wicked or injustice end up in ruin. To better understand the words of wisdom in this Bible verse is to read more of John chapter 14.

John 14:1  “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.” 5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

I don’t know if your father ever been told or heard your father say, “ This is my house, I pay the bills, I buy the food you eat and the clothes you wear, you either do as I say, or you can get out and provide for yourself, that is the same attitude the Heavenly Father has. If you or I want to dwell in the mansion Jesus goes to prepare for God’s children, they have to go by the way of Jesus, and when they do, the Lord will protect them. This is where the group in the book of Acts, shows how the Lord protects His people. The apostle Paul, was an enemy against the Lord’s church, Paul love God, but didn’t believe Jesus was the Messiah, so he wanted to put a stop to the of God’s holy name, so he asks for permission to go after the followers of Jesus, the Way. The Lord knew Paul’s heart and also knew Paul had trusted in too much of false prophecy, who went by his Hebrew name Saul at the time, and stop him while he was on his while and show him the light that Jesus is Lord God.

Acts 9:1 Now Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest, 2 and asked for letters from him to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them in shackles to Jerusalem. 3 Now as he was traveling, it happened that he was approaching Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him; 4 and he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” 5 And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” And He said, “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting,

The Lord had protected His church, the Way from zeal and passion Saul so serve God but was doing it in a very harmful way, to Paul and Jesus’ church. When Saul was converted and corrected by God, he became a powerful apostle and bondservant of Christ Jesus. Paul (Saul) had a strong reputation for his passion to stop follower of Jesus, the first time he went to a place of worship, and preached, the Jesus is the Son of God, the congregation was questioning each other, isn’t he the one who was hurting, destroying those who follow the ways of Jesus.

Acts chapter 9 goes to prove, Proverbs 10:29 is prophetic truth. God is a stronghold for the righteous, even if they way off in the wrong direction, the Lord kept those safe who were following the way of Jesus and God took Saul and made him a powerful instrument and preach the Lord’s name to the Gentiles and Israel.

Acts 9:13  But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many people about this man, how much harm he did to Your saints in Jerusalem; 14 and here he has authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on Your name.” 15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel;

Paul was grateful the Lord was His stronghold, he made this statement much time in his writings. My favorite is from 1 Timothy 1:12-16, in it which Paul, knew to want to serve Him, but he was blaspheming the Lord’s name, but through God’s amazing grace Paul was saved and eternal life is his. God bless you all, Jesus the Savior of sinners loves you and so do I, Samuel J H.

1 Timothy 1:12  I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service, 13 even though I was previously a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief; 14 and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus. 15 It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost. 16 Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost sinner Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.
