Matthew 6:13 Lord’s Prayer Keeps Evil Temptation Away

Matthew 6:13

‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.’

This is the last verse of the Lord’s prayer in Matthew chapter 6, that the Lord Jesus Christ is teaching His followers an example of how to pray. In the passage of scripture His asking Father God to deliver us from evil & keep us from temptation. It takes devotion to the Lord to lead away from evil, but temptation comes from the same place where our desire to make God happy or a temptation to please ourselves. This is the message God gave to, control your desire or it will control you.

Genesis 4:6 So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”

Cain did not have the Lord to lead him out of temptation, so he fail from it & done the unthinkable, murder his own brother. Temptation is very strong & weak in the same minds that made Cain’s mother Eve see the forbidden fruit as delicious & gave her an evil appetite. You probably know how strong temptation is, a person with a addiction to drugs, sex, money, alcohol or wealth  will do anything to get what he or she wants. How many of you know stories of family members stealing from others, like a mother or father, or even causing harm, even death like Cain killed his brother & was only felt guilty when asked where his brother was. A Christian need the Lord beside them to delivered from evil, both as protection & correction, this example is pointed out is the book of Psalm 23 verse 4;

Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Without the Lord the good Shepherd, by your side in the valley of life, you will give in to evil, & it will take you over, then mostly become evil yourself or be killed by it. The Good Shepherd with us staff to push the evil away & will use you to wrack make correct you or use it to pull you back when we might go astray. We must listen to the instruction the Lord Jesus gave us to ask Father God to keep us from temptation by keeping the evil away, the only way to that, is to have the Good Shepherd walking you & I. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves you & so do I. Sam H.

James 1:12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.
