My father used to tell me if you wanna have a lot of company at gatherings, have free food. My father used to entertain family and friends , he always provided a lot of food. We need food and water to survive to provide our bodies with energy to make us feel satisfied. We driven by our appetite, we as sons and daughters of Adam and Eve suffer, cause their appetite to eat something that made them unrighteous;

Genesis 3:6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.

Unrighteousness entered the world at that time & the children of Adam & Eve, would continue to drive what we hunger & thirst for, when Jesus Christ the Son of God knew this. When He gives the third beatitude, He tells the large congregation that if they hunger & thirst for righteousness, they will be truly satisfied. He isn’t talking about fruits, vegetables,rice, wine, beans or any kind of meat we consume when hunger or thirst. It is spiritual food & drink we should desire to consume, & after all we are what we eat & drink. Another test of a major of appetite was given to the  Master Teacher of the sermon on the mount, Jesus Christ. The Devil who tempted Eve with her appetite, tried to tempt Jesus, with major hunger He had, cause He had not eaten in forty days. Satan knew Jesus could use to change solid stones into warm fresh bread, because Satan knew the word of God also. But Jesus is the Word of righteousness to make Satan go away.

Matthew 4:4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’”

We need to consume the spiritual food & drink, to have the righteousness of Jesus, it will help us to defeat the temptation of Satan. Cause just like He misquoted scripture to Eve, then to Jesus, he will twist God’s to tell me and you, that this or at unrighteous behavior is totally acceptable. But the righteous Words of God, tells us, it will never change or pass away.

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.

1 Peter 1:25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word which was preached to you.

The Sermon on the mount tells the children of God, we are what we eat and drink. If we consume unrighteous, we will stay unrighteous, and will my unsatisfied. Happiness only comes from the will of God and we won’t know what that is unless we take in His Spiritual Word, which scripture says is just as important as our daily bread. I personally God word to help me get through the day. That is the main reason I do these devotional, it helps me to study, so I can know what teaches you.  God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves you and so do I. Sam H.
