Luke 7:18-24 The Greater Man Who Doubt Jesus

Luke 7:18-24

24 The disciples of John reported to him about all these things.19 Summoning two of his disciples, John sent them to the Lord, saying, “Are You the Expected One, or do we look for someone else?” 20 When the men came to Him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to You, to ask, ‘Are You the Expected One, or do we look for someone else?’” 21 At that very time He cured many people of diseases and afflictions and evil spirits; and He gave sight to many who were blind. 22 And He answered and said to them, “Go and report to John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have the gospel preached to them.

John the Baptist ministry started strong & he had amazing faith in the Lord he loved. His arrest  by King Herod, for telling him, he was supposed to have a relationship with his brother’s wife, until his brother was dead. After he spent some time locked up & dirty cell  He started to doubt if Jesus was the Christ who was the Messiah. He had forgotten when he baptized Jesus, He witnessed  the trinity & heard the voice of God, saying the Lord said Jesus was His Son & He was well pleased .

John 1:32 John testified saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him. 33 I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’ 34 I myself have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God.”

John sent his friends to ask Jesus, if He was the r Messiah. Jesus gave encouraging words to John’s friend how  they were seen Jesus perform. John the Baptist faith in Jesus was restorer. We as followers of the Lord Jesus, can look at John’s doubting  heart & if Scripture says John was the meekest person ever born of women. Then we are in good company, the Scriptures are full of everyday average people  who have doubts about who the Lord is & if He will rescue us from our person, the dark dungeon. If we seek Jesus’ word of encouragement, we will  see & witness  His miracles in our lives. Let us be like John the Baptist & seek to hear Jesus loving good news will be encouraged also, so that in our dark times, we will know, the Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of  God.
