John 19:12-15 The Cornerstone of the Good Shepherd Rejected
John 19:12-15
12 As a result of this Pilate made efforts to release Him, but the Jews cried out saying, “If you release this Man, you are no friend of Caesar; everyone who makes himself out to be a king opposes Caesar.” 13 Therefore when Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out, and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called The Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabbatha. 14 Now it was the day of preparation for the Passover; it was about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews, “Behold, your King!” 15 So they cried out, “Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him!” Pilate *said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.”
When Abraham was faithful to God’s word and was patient, the Lord delivered His promise to Sarah, Abraham’s wife, and their son Isaac was born. Now Isaac’s promise is called the seed and the writers of the New Testament reflected on the promise given to Abraham and how it affected all of the Lord.
Hebrews 11:17- By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, 18 of whom it was said, “In Isaac, your seed shall be called,”
When the Shepherd finally showed up, after 1,000 years of waiting they heard false teaching that the Messiah was coming to destroy every earthly kingdom and make the physical land of Israel a great nation and each son and daughter of Abraham would live in a wonderful peace. When people get comfortable in their environment and even when that environment is a world of sin, they don’t want any light to show them their comforter zone is harmful and leads to death. When Jesus told the Jewish people He saw Abraham and that He was the Great I Am, they got upset and wanted to stone Him.
John 8:57-59 So the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?” 58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.” 59 Therefore they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus [b]hid Himself and went out of the temple.
The truth is the Jewish people tried several times to stone Jesus, and it simply wasn’t His time to fulfill His Father’s. The Jewish leader really had a desire to kill Jesus more after He raised Lazarus from the dead. They were more afraid of what the Roman authority would do to them the God of Abraham.
John 11:4 Therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council, and were saying, “What are we doing? For this man is performing many signs. 48 If we let Him go on like this, all men will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.” 49 But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all, 50 nor do you take into account that it is expedient for you that one man die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish.”
This leads to the scene in John 19, the Jewish people truly say what is on a worldly loving mind. Just like their stiff neck ancients wanted an earthly king to judge us.
1 Samuel 8:5 and they said to him, “Behold, you have grown old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now appoint a king for us to judge us like all the nations.” 6 But the thing was displeasing in the sight of Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” And Samuel prayed to the Lord.
But the government of the Roman Empire saw no wrong behavior of Jesus. The Roman governor said I see no fault in Jesus, I wanna release Him, and then the guilty Jewish actually condemn themselves and their children’s children.https://1samuel120.com/
Matthew 27:24 When Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but rather that a riot was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this Man’s blood; see to that yourselves.” 25 And all the people said, “His blood shall be on us and on our children!” 26 Then he released Barabbas for them; but after having Jesus scourged, he handed Him over to be crucified.
If the Religions groups that come for Abraham wanna say who their authority is, they accept more. It is the authority of themselves. The main reason Pontius Pilate gave in to the Jewish demand, he didn’t want a rebellion of angry people whose name means to wrestle with God, start a riot on him, and in return, Pilate would receive the punishment of Caesar. When wanna provide their own blessing rather than trusting the Lord their shepherd. Their lives become hectic and they don’t give peace to the green meadow and quiet water give. God bless you, the Lord Jesus loves you and so do I. Samuel.
