2 Corinthians 2:12-17 Your Aroma To God

2 Corinthians 2:12-17

12 Now when I came to Troas for the gospel of Christ and when a door was opened for me in the Lord, 13 I had no rest for my spirit, not finding Titus my brother; but taking my leave of them, I went on to Macedonia.14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. 15 For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; 16 to the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life. And who is adequate for these things? 17 For we are not like many, peddling the word of God, but as from sincerity, but as from God, we speak in Christ in the sight of God.

The Holy Bible says the Lord created me you, in His image, so He has the same sense we have; sight, touch, taste, hearing, and smell. The smell is considered the fifth sense, and it plays a major role in a person’s memory. The function of smell can trigger a memory and is very strong, to some the scent of flowers, can remind some of a picnic, the smell of coffee can make someone think it’s more, or the smell of garlic can make someone hungry. This scripture tells me and you, God can smell our aroma. Of course, we can smell each other, if we practice good hygiene or not, or if some have by working a long hard day or spending time at the gym. Or is someone wearing perfume or smoking a cigarette. But God, a sense of smell is triggered, whether we serve Him or not. Scripture tells me and, when we make an offering of worship to Him, He is delighted by our aroma. When we give God’s Son Jesus, all that we have to say we love Him, the aroma is an unbeliever to Him and to all around. There is a perfect example of a follower of Christ who was recently forgiven and accepted, just for being themselves, but she gave her all, to say I love you, Jesus. The story of sacrifice and offer is so great in all four gospels of the New Testament, it’s in; Matthew 26:6-13, Mark 14:3-9, Luke 7:36-50, and John 12:1-7. But maybe the best telling of the event is from Luke 7, scripture calls the woman a sinner and she learns was Jesus was gonna be and she spent a lot of money, Scripture says it was a whole year’s wage.

John 12:5 “That perfume was worth a year’s wages. It should have been sold and the money given to the poor.”

But the woman who was called a sinner by the many didn’t care, she loved Jesus, and she spent all she had to make Jesus’ feet and head smell good, she even covered His feet with precious tears and wiped His feet clean with hair. The smell of the perfume she bought filled the whole place, where Jesus and others were having something to eat.

John 12:3 Then Mary took a twelve-ounce jar of expensive perfume made from the essence of nard, and she anointed Jesus’ feet with it, wiping his feet with her hair. The house was filled with fragrance.

Because of the woman, who the others saw as a sinner, an act of worship, and sacrifice, Jesus told her that she was saved and to go in peace. Scripture says that a sinner who sacrifices or worships Jesus, is a fragrance, a wonderful smell to the nostrils of God. The smell of disobedience and sin smells like death. If you refuse to obey God and live the way you feel, you smell like decay, to your Creator. You are just a walking dead person, to the sense of smell to God. No decent person likes to smell bad, or hear the words, ‘You stink! I know I don’t, so let me pray for you and your family, and your friends. Dear Heavenly Father, I wanna lift those up who read the words You have me to write, I want my actions and those who read this and their loves, to make an offering of true love, a true sacrifice, to say we love you, Lord Jesus Christ, I hope and pray, I can be a please aroma and fragrance to Your sense of smell, and my family who are lost in the love of self, and to your household also, Thank You, Lord, In Jesus name I pray for these things, Amen. God bless you, the Lord loves you and so do I. Samuel Head.

Philippians 4:18 At the moment I have all I need—and more! I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus. They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God.
