Romans 1:1-4 A Bond-Servant

Romans 1:1-4

1 Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, 2 which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures, 3 concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh, 4 who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord,

The history of the of the world, gives being a Bond-Servant or a Slave, very bad title. The definition of Bond-Servant means (a person bond for service without receiving a wage or payment) But does a person who is a Bond-Servant of Jesus do any service or labor, without a payment or reward. When I used to work a regular job, the only thing that kept me going was my paycheck I would receive, as a reward for my labor, once I work at restaurant, where the paychecks, were mess up, my coworkers were upset and I was upset, and everyone wasn’t going home until, we got paid. But Jesus isn’t like most Masters of a Bond-Servant, He makes Himself our Bond-Servant.

John 13:16  Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him.

Unlike most Masters, Jesus doesn’t ask much of us. When He asks His children to do something He won’t do Himself. During potluck after a Sabbath worship, me & my brother in Christ , Mike B was talking about (Exodus 21:5-6,).

Exodus 21:5 But if the slave plainly says, ‘I love my master, my wife and my children; I will not go out as a free man,’ 6 then his master shall bring him to God, then he shall bring him to the door or the doorpost. And his master shall pierce his ear with an awl; and he shall serve him permanently.

It is the passage stating the requirements for a slave if he/she falls in love with their master and wants to be a servant the rest of his/her life as a slave and receiving no payment.. So the requirements for a person to be a permanent slave or Bond-Servant, is this, he/she would be taking front door of the master’s house & then receive a piercing and then the slave would wear a permanent awl, which is small piercing jewelry. Jesus determined this act of becoming our slave when He made a payment for mine & your debt, of being disobedient, to the Father.

Romans 6:3 Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?

When  Jesus our Master, the Debt Collector practice what Lord’s Prayer tells us to do;

Matthew 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

When Jesus said on the cross, ‘Father forgive them, for they know not what they do’ then He died & His head fell limp, He went from Debt Collector to Master who paid mine and your very expensive Debt. So I can easily see why Paul called himself a Bond-Servant of Jesus, pridefully in the books of the New Testament which means a New Covenant, which means if you accept Jesus debt payment, He will be your Master (God) & Bond-Servant (Slave) . I proudly call myself Jesus Bond-Servant (Slave), what about you? God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves you & so do I. Samuel H

1 Corinthians 7:21 Were you called while a slave? Do not worry about it; but if you are able also to become free, rather do that. 22 For he who was called in the Lord while a slave, is the Lord’s freedman; likewise he who was called while free, is Christ’s slave. 23 You were bought with a price; do not become slaves of men.
