Proverbs 3:29-35 Jesse James’ Religion

Proverbs 3:29-35

29 Do not devise harm against your neighbor, While he lives securely beside you. 30 Do not contend with a person for no reason, If he has done you no harm. 31 Do not envy a violent person And do not choose any of his ways. 32 For the devious are an abomination to the Lord, But He is intimate with the upright.33 The curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked, But He blesses the home of the righteous. 34 Though He scoffs at the scoffers, Yet He gives grace to the needy. 35 The wise will inherit honor, But fools increase dishonor.

As a young boy growing up, I enjoyed watching entertaining tv’s shows and movies with action. Most of my favorites were the good guys stopping the bad guys. A good western, gangsters, war movies, Sci-fi, cops, and robbers were and are still draw my attention. Between 2009 to 2010 I spent a while in Gallatin Missouri, with a very lovable family, as I walk through the town I learned that it prizes itself as that was affected by Jesse James. A building on the corner had a maker saying, this building was once a bank Jesse James robbed. Then I saw a squirrel cage jailhouse where Jesse or his brother serve time. Jesse James was an American outlaw but is famous or has envy for being lawless against the laws of America and God. Jesse James had Baptist Pastor as a father, so he grew up hearing words like, 13 Thou shalt not kill.14 Thou shalt not commit adultery. 15 Thou shalt not steal. 16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. 17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.  After  the American Civil War was over, Jesse James who was a veteran of the Confederacy, join a band of former Confederate soldiers who called themselves  “bushwhackers” who practice guerrillas warfare. After that, he joins various outlaw gangs  and he would rob banks  stagecoaches, and trains, anything that had money. Despite his criminal activity, many said Jesse James was a religious man, devoted to his wife and church. Once while robbing a train, he encounters a minister who refused to give the money he was carrying, Jesse ask for it cause it was the church’s money, Jesse then put his gun away puts his hand out for a shake, and said, “Shake, brother. I’m a Baptist too.2 “. One reason Jesse James is envy cause of rumors he was like a southern Robin Hood. It was believed that Jesse and his gang would give the money they stole was given to the poor, cause there were many poor former citizens rumor practice evil will end up in a foolish way. The reward for Jesse James to stop was so high, it was more valuable than robbing a bank, that  a man name Robert Ford join the gang of outlaws to shoot him and also to have Robert criminal activity be forgiven. Jesse James was man who had two masters, God and wealth. The wealth he gain from robbing and stealing other people’s money help him dress in a fancy suit and he probably money he stole in the church offering plate. Which master did Jesse love the most, God, money, well another loves money also, killed Jesse James for the reward of the god Jesse served. God bless you, the Lord Jesus loves you and so do I . Samuel J Head.

3 John 11:11 Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does what is good is of God; the one who does what is evil has not seen God.
