Proverbs 2:20-22 A Promised Land For the Wise

Proverbs 2:20-22

20 So you will walk in the way of good people and keep to the paths of the righteous. 21 For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it; 22 But the wicked will be eliminated from the land, and the treacherous will be torn away from it.

Proverbs chapter 2 is about the pursuit of wisdom, according to the  United States Declaration of Independence, Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness, is freedom all men or humans should have, given to them by their creator. The Declaration of Independence is correct, the Lord God did give all His creation the liberty to live however he or she wants to live their lives. Each path we take either guided by the Lord, or by our own eyes has a final destination. The best way to understand this Bible passage as to who the upright is that will live a promised land is to read Hebrews 11. Hebrews 11 is the label champion of the faith, all those champions inherit a city made by God.

Hebrews 11:15  And indeed if they had been thinking of that country which they left, they would have had the opportunity to return. 16 But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for He has prepared a city for them.

Proverbs 2:20-21 says only those who live upright and blameless will live in the land. Hebrews champion 11 lists of champions of faith are people if we study and read scripture made mistakes.   Champion of faith like Noah who got drunk  (Genesis 9:20-21),  but  Noah was righteousness, (Hebrews 11:7). Abraham and Sarah had a doubt about God’s promises, ( Genesis 16-18) but still are champions of faith, ( Hebrews 11:8-12 ). One of my personal favorite champions of faith Samson,( Judges 16) was foolish who was lead astray by his lust for a beautiful woman and got drunk and temporarily lost his strength God gave him. Samson remembers the Lord and by faith destroys his enemies and he is a champion of faith also, ( Hebrews 11:32-33 ). Proverb 2:22, says the wicked will be eliminated from the promised land, just like Cain who killed his brother Abel, (Genesis 4:8, Hebrews 11:4 ) because Cain never had any righteousness.

1 John 3:11  For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we are to love one another; 12 not as Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And for what reason did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil, but his brother’s were righteous

The word of God you and I can receive the promised land also if we are faithful in our love with God and each other. Not only can we receive the promised land and live with other champions of faith, but we all, but champions of faith of ancient day to the present times at the same time. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves y0u and so do I. Samuel J Head

Hebrews 11:38  (people of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts, on mountains, and sheltering in caves and holes in the ground. 39 And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised, 40 because God had provided something better for us so that apart from us they would not be made perfect.
