Proverbs 10:22 Simple Treasures

Proverbs 10:22

It is the blessing of the Lord that makes rich, And He adds no sorrow to it.

The Holy Bible isn’t against being wealthy, nor isn’t against being blessed, and the Lord, our God, gives both. However, how a person sees prosperity and a blessing depends on what they treasure in their heart. Jesus preached this in the gospels, but He only repeats it was written all over God’s word. So whatever a person treasures, they truly love God’s love, His salvation, and to know the true meaning of life, then that treasure He will give it to you and me.

Matthew 6:20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart [your wishes, your desires; that on which your life centers] will be also.

Have you ever heard a Christian say if God helps them win the lottery just once, and they don’t mean a small lottery but a giant mega Powerball lottery, their life from that point on will be easy sailing? Sadly those who win a lottery end up feeling miserable about the so-called lucky winning. Many who win end up broke and without the money win, or end up dead. In 1998 I saw a movie called “ A Simple Plan,” it was about two brothers and one friend who found a crashed airplane.  Inside the aircraft, they saw the dead pilot and $4.4 million. They all thought they had gotten lucky but decided not to do anything until later cause they wondered if it was a drug dealer’s money. The $4.4 million ends up being the biggest mistake and disaster between those three men and their families. The one who thought he was wise was a married man, and his wife was expecting their first child soon. His brother wasn’t so smart and listened to his older brother but wanted the money to restore the family farm he grew up in. The one who was a friend of the two brothers was a married man but lived paycheck to paycheck; he and his wife wanted to use the newfound wealth to get caught and live like a king and queen. The older brother’s simple plan was to wait and see what would happen, but the other two money was burning holes in their pockets, so they argued with each other. Arguments happen when they ask each other when we can spend this money, then lie about where this luxury car came from; as the fights got more intense, violence started to happen, and they began to kill each other. The brothers were trying to find a way to make up a story to tell the police to make the murder look like self-defense, but the younger brother could live with lies and ask his other brother to kill him and make it look like the argument was with him and his dead friend and wife. The wise other brother wanted to take the money and move far away, and with the new capital, it would be enough for them to live comfortably and a good education for the baby. Little did he know the money was a part of a drug bust, and the FBI had made money traceable and asked the wise older brother if they found it. He simply lied to the FBI agents, and they left. After the FBI left he built a fire in his fireplace and began burning the millions he had found with his brother and friend, who are now dead. His wife was watching him as he was burning all the money, and she just cried, saying there goes all that loot up in smoke. Money is good, but the blessings the Lord gives will never honestly go away. God’s love is like a loyal husband or wife, for richer or poor, He still loves, for sickness or health He still loves, and as long your treasure His word and love, salvation and the promise of everlasting life is your heavenly reward. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves, and so do I, Samuel J H.

Ecclesiastes 5:10  Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness! 11 The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth—except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers! 12 People who work hard sleep well, whether they eat little or much. But the rich seldom get a good night’s sleep. 13 There is another serious problem I have seen under the sun. Hoarding riches harms the saver. 14 Money is put into risky investments that turn sour, and everything is lost. In the end, there is nothing left to pass on to one’s children. 15 We all come to the end of our lives as naked and empty-handed as on the day we were born. We can’t take our riches with us.
