Matthew 7:13-14 Stay Away From the In Crowd
Following the teachings of the Lord Jesus, isn’t a bed of roses the theme of the passages of this part of the sermon of the mount. This is a hard lesson for many Christians to understand & to accept, the person who truly loves the Lord will be the one of the few who enter the narrow gate that leads the gift of life. I learn this lesson myself as soon as I show interest in being Christian, Satan declares war on me. It was the year 2000, & I was shopping for a church, when I found one I like the Devil whispered in my ear, “now you will know what suffering means.” It didn’t take long for my car to throw a rod & need repairs, that i couldn’t afford, my supervisor at my job finally had enough of my crap, & I lost my job. So my walk with God got off to a rough start. If it hadn’t been the love of my new church family & the prayers they lifted up for me, I would probably be with the many going through the wide gate to destruction. As Christian who hears stories of how wonderful heaven is & to have eternal life is even greater, how could a person choose death & destruction. The late great Johnny Cash, had quote about being a Christian & it is one of my favorites from the man in black;
Johnny Cash had it right, being a Christian isn’t for sissies, but doing the devils will is pretty easy, I could for easy made Satan very happy, by continuing living the life i had, partying, getting drunk or high as much as possible, just plain & simply seeking my own pleasure. To be truthful, I have real pleasure now serving the Lord, & listening to God tell me who I really am & the true meaning of life. Scripture says the blind is led by the blind & they both fall into a deep pit,(Matthew 15:14). The road to destruction is attractive & it’s gate is wide, people can enter by a large crowd. Otherwise the road to everlasting life is narrow, a person has to watch their step, each person has to watch & support the person in front of them & make sure the person behind them is keeping up. The rich young ruler or rich young man wanted eternal life but didn’t want to give up pleasure of his wealth. When Jesus’ disciple saw the rich man walking away crying ,they asked Jesus how can any person, “ How is that any man can be saved , almost saying this currently life is way too attractive & Christianity is way too impossible. Jesus told them, a person by themselves the walk on the narrow word is impossible, only with God is achieving eternal life & is possible.

God always tries you when you are first saved for you to see if your faith is real. He already knows if it is or not. All through the Christian life there are going to be trials. We all want quick solutions to our problems. We want to be free of the pressure caused by problems and conflicts, but God wants to use that pressure to lead us to spiritual maturity. We need to learn to see life from God’s perspective and ask ourselves, what benefits are possible? Experiencing problems that we cannot solve, especially when others know about them, can be very humbling. However, God uses these experiences to break our pride and give us more grace. (See James 4:6–10.) God designed us with weaknesses so that we would recognize our need for His power. Only God can make us strong by His powerful grace. It is in our weakness that God will demonstrate His power. (See II Corinthians 12:9–12.) Seeing the benefits that can come as the results of problems is not an easy thing to do, because God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts. (See Isaiah 55:8–9.) We need to ask God to help us recognize the benefits He wants us to experience as a result of a problem and to teach us through it. God wants us to be conformed to the image of His Son, the Lord Jesus, and God does work all things together for good. (See Romans 8:28–29.)
