1 Samuel 1:20
Luke 17:7-10 I Give Up Everything To Be A Unworthy Servant

Luke 17:7-10 I Give Up Everything To Be A Unworthy Servant

Luke 17:7-10

7 And which of you, having a servant plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come at once and sit down to eat’? 8 But will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare something for my supper, and gird yourself and serve me till I have eaten and drunk, and afterward you will eat and drink’? 9 Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded [a]him? I think not. 10 So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.’ ”

When a man or woman learns just how much the Lord Jesus Christ loves him or her,  a feeling of unworthiness will enter their heart. The words in scripture as to how much the Lord wants to follow Him, is either by calling ourselves servants or slaves. The word servant appears in scripture 815 times, slaves 65 times. But what is a servant or slave according to God’s word? A slave is usually someone who is forced into  labor, without receiving any benefits or payment. A servant is similar but might attend to one individual, someone  great power or wealth. But a slave or servant will serve someone’s every wish and demand. The parable of unworthy servant or unprofitable, is telling of the desire a follower of Christ should have in their love and devotion to their Savior. A follower of Christ should be very grateful whatever he or she receives, it is always His will and desire first. The best way to teach this parable is to compare the loyalty of Christian to the love and devotion of small children.

Matthew 18:3 and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

I’m not a father, but I do remember when I was a small child, how I wanted everything my parents told me and even shadowed my father and tried to mimic everything he did, even try to do the work he did. Sadly the older I got I had my own desires, to do my work when i got older, the job my father did was less desirable and I became extremely rebellious in my behavior. A human is almost the opposite, our hearts are born rebellious to our Father God and even as young children, we don’t wanna share our toys with  siblings, sometimes smack our parent’s hand or reduce us to our green peas. Now a parent will correct their children if they show disrespect, I remember when I was tall but to my mother or father, the punishment was on then, for sure. Jesus used the word convert, as in say we need to convert yourself into servants or slaves of Christ. Have a 100% desire to all His will, wanna do His job, serve Him food, give Him closet to wear, give Him water to drink and if there any leftover for us, give Him thanks and enjoy whatever we get. But Jesus is only telling a story of how much love He wants from us, because Himself, say He is this follower’s slave and willingly to our desire. Jesus shows even more love to those who do His commands, who live as slaves as to Jesus will, He says you  friend, and you are even His master.

John 15:14 You are My friends if you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.

Jesus makes Himself such a slave of those He wants to be His master, He accepts the same punishment they will and even suffer more. He had the power to escape hours of physical, mental, and verbal abuse, He simply did it like a slave on the behalf of us He calls us master. Now when you think of how Jesus became a servant, show us Christian He would die a sinner’s death, turn the other cheek and say, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do, “. The Master Jesus, is saying please for my servants as I die as their slave. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves you and so do I. Samuel H  (Slave of Christ)

John 13:15 For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you. 16 Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. 17 If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.
