John 1:17 The Law Of Grace

John 1:17

For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.

God wrote the 1o commandments Laws, on two stone tablets with His finger, in the presence of Moses. The Law is not separate from scripture but a part of God’s word. According to John chapter 1, the Word is Jesus. If the Word was with God in the beginning, then surely, Jesus the Lord was the one writing the words of the 10 commandments on two stone tablets on Mount Sinai. John the Baptist testify in John 1:15, Jesus existed before he was born, so did Jesus exist before Moses. The word of God answers that.

John 8:56 Your father Abraham was overjoyed that he would see My day, and he saw it and rejoiced.” 57 So the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and You have seen Abraham?” 58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly I say to you before Abraham was born, I am.”

I have heard many Christian Churches and Christians themselves say, the 10 commandments Laws of God did not exist before Moses or Exodus 20. Once again, the word of God does not support that false teaching. God is the Lord of order and order cannot exist without law or else there will be anarchy. The Lord does not want anarchy or chaos, so He sets up Laws as means to have ordered. If Jesus existed before Abraham, and Abraham before Moses, did the 10 commandments Laws exist before Abraham?

Genesis 26:5 because Abraham obeyed Me and fulfilled his duty to Me, and kept My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.”

According to God’s word, yes, the law existed before Abraham, but we all know Abraham was not perfect, by all means. John 1:17 says the Law was given to Moses, but grace and truth were realized in Jesus. Does that mean there was no grace or truth at the time of Abraham or Moses? According to scripture, Abraham lied twice (Genesis 12:10-20 and Genesis 20). Abraham doubted God’s problems that He would give him a son with his wife Sarah and acted on himself and had committed adultery to have a son in a disobedient way (Genesis 16).

James 2:23 and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “And Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called a friend of God. 24 You see a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.

Believing in God’s word is believing in Jesus. A relationship with God the Father is a friend who sees you love Him. A loyal friend holds no grudges or hard will when the friend says he is sorry. Jesus is a good friend to have, and a good, good Father, His grace, will show His friends how to walk and live in the truth of His word. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves you and so do I. His bondservant, Samuel.

Romans 4:1 What then shall we say that Abraham our father has found according to the flesh? 2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. 3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” 4 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt.
