James 4:1-3

4 What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is the source not your pleasures that wage war in your body’s parts? 2 You lust and do not have, so you commit murder. And you are envious and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask with the wrong motives, so that you may spend what you request on your pleasures.

A Christian who is lukewarm with their relationship with the Lord, will cause conflict within themselves. It is like flirting with wanting salvation from God, and still serving ourselves. One Christian can’t do that and neither do members of the church, ( the body of Christ). Being members of the body of Christ, the church’s full desire should be to make the body grow by reaching out to other people and inform them the Lord loves them and wants them to have salvation. The history of the church of Christ is tainted by how it has treated the people who went to it looking for help and wanting to know more about themselves and their Creator. Lust has played a horrible part from Christian churches of many different denominations. Priests in the early history of the church would use people’s ignorance of God’s word and take advantage of them. I remember watching Saturday Night Live in 1992 when Sinead O’ Connor ripped a photo of Pope John II live on tv and said “Evil and fight the real enemy .” This happened after she had performed her cover or Bob Marley’s song “War”and how fitting for the scripture James 4:1-4. She song “War” as a protest for the sexual abuse the Catholic church did to children. These sexual abuse may have been only a rumor in 1992, but has explode ever since, the church ended up paying many of if it victims but money can never repay damage done mentally and spiritually to the body of Christ. I had many conversations with people who were not of any faith and I told them I was a Christian and they made the remark ,” Oh you are part of the church that rapes little children,’ and no matter how hard I try to say, that was not my church denomination it did not go well. The word murder is also talked about in this Bible passage, the Roman Catholic Church murder many people in the name of God, all because they would not accept the church’s teachings and say the Pope is Christ on earth. But the Catholic isn’t alone in murdering people outside it’s faith. The  protestant church murder many people in events like the Salem witch trails, which was one of the reason why Thomas Jefferson refuse to accept Christianity and was atheist. All of the issues of conflict by the false body of Christ had done damage to God’s name in His church.
