James 1:5-8 Know the Rest In His Wisdom

Give Me Your Wisdom Father

James 1:5-8

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind..7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Before I was old enough to go to school, my parents bought encyclopedia books. Whenever I was at  home sick from school, or it rained, I would read my encyclopedia set. For some reason I would highlight biblical definition, one day I looked up for example the word sabbath, out curiosity . I read there in black and white, that the sabbath was the seventh day of the week, but that Saturday was sabbath for the Jews, and Sunday was sabbath for the Christian. I thought to myself, that is odd, the word of God says the seventh day is holy and is the sabbath, but the encyclopedia says there are two sabbath. The Bible is God’s wisdom and the encyclopedia is man’s, but which one is double-mind? James 1:5 say if you lack wisdom  ask God, and if you do so, have hundred percent faith. James 1:6 says if you don’t have faith, then having a double-mind causes confusion and chaos like hurricanes or typhoons. Now I have talked to a lot of Christian who say, it doesn’t matter which day of the week I keep the sabbath, if I have to work on Saturday so be it and I can rest on another day. There is a sabbath day message in the 23rd Psalm of King David, and it is about resting in God and getting to know Him and gaining wisdom.

Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.

Where does it get wisdom, for many it is going to school, studying textbooks or using google. I have done both in my lifetime, and before the internet, I would gain wisdom by watching a Public Broadcast show, show about the American Civil War, or How President Teddy  Roosevelt and His distant cousin FDR. Of all the schooling I receive and the twenty-five encyclopedia book set I read, I learn more about myself by taking a break from myself and devoting a whole twenty-four day seventh day sabbath of worship, in rest and getting to know my Shepherd more. Wisdom and knowledge go together and how does a person get to know God, the word of God answers this question.

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Now I remember the conversations I had with  my Christian brothers and sister and we talk about keeping the sabbath and they say, it doesn’t matter which day I keep the sabbath, I can make any day the sabbath I want too. Can a human, a man, woman or even child make any day of the week his or her sabbath, let’s ask the wisdom of God’s word. I check these English translations of the Holy Bible KJV, NKJV, NIV, NIB and the NASB , in each one  God says the sabbath is His. He created heaven and earth in six days, saw it was good and rested on the seventh day and made it holy. Creation was good until we used our personal understanding and put chaos into something that God made good. When a Christian says he or she can make any day their sabbath, are they calling themselves the Lord of the Sabbath, did he or she say let there be light and there was light. Maybe that is why the world is like a major sea storm and people are extremely worried who the president  or any ruler government ruling power is, mankind has made any day they want to be their sabbath and totally  forgotten God says in His fourth commandment clearly say, remember My Sabbath day and keep it holy. God bless you all, the Lord of Sabbath loves you and so do I. Samuel H.

Mark 2:27  Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. 28 So the Son of Man is Lord, even of the Sabbath.
