Acts 18:24-28

24 Now a Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by birth, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus; and he was mighty in the Scriptures.25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he was speaking and teaching accurately the things concerning Jesus, being acquainted only with the baptism of John; 26 and he began to speak out boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. 27 And when he wanted to go across to Achaia, the brethren encouraged him and wrote to the disciples to welcome him; and when he had arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace, 28 for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, demonstrating by the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.

For a salesperson to be successful at pushing whatever they are selling, they must have knowledge of the product. It is pleasant for the consumer to ask a question and the salesperson to tell everything he/she knows about what is up for sale. But if the salesperson’s face looks puzzled or dumbfounded, the shopper will ask another salesperson or go somewhere else. If the salesperson is unsuccessful, the employer will eventually let them go. A person who teaches Scripture must know all of it, not bits and pieces.

Apollos, the Holy Bible says, was an exceptional speaker and knew scripture, but was teaching half-true, which the Bible says teaching half-truth is sugarcoating it. When a pastor or is holding up his Bible and says this is my Bible and I will do what it says, how is the congregation going to know what it says to do, if the pastor never read the Bible, maybe he doesn’t know the whole word of God. Brothers and sisters, take your Bible to church and read it at home, cause you might have to correct the pastor sometimes and even myself. God bless you all, devotional sent by Samuel H.
