Luke 16:19-21 The King of Kings Say Feed The Hungry

Luke 16:19-21

“Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day. 20 And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores, 21 and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich man’s table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores.

Jewish people were the audience of the parables of Jesus when He gave these short stories to, to explain God’s word and the kingdom of heaven. So inside the minds of the audience  their  thoughts were  of  Hebrew people and a Jew everyday life. When Jesus said the man wearing purple  was a rich man, they knew it, cause only the wealthy could buy purple linen to wear in these times .Purple  wasn’t  as simple to come by as it is today, so only royalty and the wealthy bought and wore it.  The Lord is ultimate King of Kings and Royalty and true king treats his people with compassion and God would want of any royalty of Israel;

 1 Kings 10:8 Happy are your men and happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom! 9 Blessed be the Lord your God, who delighted in you, setting you on the throne of Israel! Because the Lord has loved Israel forever, therefore He made you king, to do justice and righteousness.”

Now for wealthy Israelite to have a hungry poor man outside his gate, and walk by him and even have the knowledge that he is there, then not feed him, even just a crumb that fell off his table, is in no way demonstrating  the compassion and love of God Almighty.  It was noticeable Lazarus was starving to death, the scripture says he had sores on his skin, cracks in the human flesh are signs of starvation. A body that is not getting daily nourishment, the  energy it gains from a heal is missing a person slowly and painfully dies. Some English Bibles said the rich man had crumb from his table, but NLT, say the rich man had scraps;

Luke 16:21 As Lazarus lay there longing for scraps from the rich man’s table, the dogs would come and lick his open sores.

he rich man may have seen Lazarus as an unclean man and tried to avoid him at all cost, but the word Jesus says the unclean deserves to eat also. Jesus had the discussion with a gentile woman, who the Jews saw as unclean but she was begging for healing and to be made whole and said  that dogs ate the little crumb that fell to the floor. Jesus told her she was correct, healed her of the unclean demon and called her daughter. Are you wanting to be a child of the most high King, then do so, but be like Him, show love and compassion to all God’s children. The Lord doesn’t love the selected few, we all are made in His image. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves you and so do I. Samuel Jerry Head.

Mark 7:26 Now the woman was a Gentile, of the Syrophoenician race. And she kept asking Him to cast the demon out of her daughter. 27 And He was saying to her, “Let the children be satisfied first, for it is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” 28 But she answered and said to Him, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table feed on the children’s crumbs.” 29 And He said to her, “Because of this answer go; the demon has gone out of your daughter.”
