Luke 16:1-2 Accountability of God’s Possessions
All that a person possesses belongs to God above. A non-believing person my not accept this and not a lot almost Christian will accept this, but the word of God says otherwise;
Deuteronomy 10:14 Behold, to the Lord your God belongs heaven and the highest heavens, the earth and all that is in it.
When I first joined the church, my brother in Christ Michael Wyatt, told me his Ford Bronco was God’s, his house was God’s, his job was God’s and his money was God’s and I guess now his daughter is really God’s daughter. Now I see a lot of people hoping and praying for a financial blessing, some ask for winning numbers on lottery tickets and even I have played the lottery a few times and even promise myself I would use the winning to further God’s kingdom. But the Lord knows what I need and I never do without and I am thankful for His blessings. The rich man in unfaithful steward, is the Lord, and the rich man has a manager who handles the rich man or his employer’s possessions. The rich man notices so poor handling of His possessions, and the numbers don’t add up. No one likes losing profits and no one likes losing possessions they already have. My father told me, if you lose money, you never really get it back, even if you find more money, the money you had could be added to what you found or earned. So the rich man calls His manager and tells him you got to go dude, unpack your office, gather your belongings and leave, but before you go, fix the mistake you made. Being a member of God’s church is more than filling up pews or whatever seat each week or seating in front of tv or however you receive your worship service. The Lord gives blessings in finance or talents to help you to help Him gain more lost souls to His kingdom. Take for Peter for instance, he spent most of his life as a fisherman and when he met Jesus, he just been fishing all night long. A long crowd wanted to hear Jesus speak and the Lord wanted extra room, so He stepped onto Peter’s boat and asked him to let the ship go out a little away from the shore. He does some teaching from Peter’s boat and then does miracles that opens up the eyes of Peter and the other fishermen in Peter’s boat. Now this part of the Gospel is Luke chapter 5, but Jesus told the fisherman in Matthew 4:19 and Mark 1:17, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” The beauty of the occasion recorded in the Gospel of Luke 5 is that when Jesus told them, they left lively hood, their nets, and fishing boat behind and became fisher of man.
Luke 5:10 and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not fear, from now on you will be catching men.” 11 When they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him.
Now I’m not telling you to give up your jobs, or to give away all your money, but use your blessings to show, tell, give others the love and compassion that the Lord has shown you. He loves you and loves all the people around you, they can’t see God or His blesses like we do. We represent Him and His kingdom on earth and the only tangible blesses they see is the ones we give and spend on them. If you are faithful and wise with the Lord’s possession He will reward you. If you are foolish and abusing the Lord’s possession, He will reward you, but cutting you off and removing all blessings, do you want that cause you wanted you wanted to profit yourself instead of your Creator and Savior, I hope not.
