Luke 14:7-11 Wedding Table of Grace

Luke 14:7-11

7 And He began speaking a parable to the invited guests when He noticed how they had been picking out the places of honor at the table, saying to them, 8 “When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for someone more distinguished than you may have been invited by him, 9 and he who invited you both will come and say to you, ‘Give your place to this man,’ and then in disgrace you proceed to occupy the last place. 10 But when you are invited, go and recline at the last place, so that when the one who has invited you comes, he may say to you, ‘Friend, move up higher’; then you will have honor in the sight of all who are at the table with you. 11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

This parable reminds me of growing up in school and being one of the weak kids and not very popular. When it came time to play kickball or baseball, two leaders would be selected, and then they took turns picking other kids to play on each side. Sure enough the leaders would pick their best friends and go from greatest to the less and I was usually one of the few last. I know at a wedding ceremony , usually the couple will invite their personal family members and friends then people who associate with the bride and groom might come, mostly to crash a wedding party. Wedding ceremony and banquet are funny, you get to see two loving couples declare themselves to each other and hope death does them part. Afterwards there is eating, dancing and depending what church denomination, an open bar might be available, and in  my being a single man, single ladies have marriage on their mind and a possible future relationship. Most of the wedding banquet I have been to, the newlyweds sit at the center of the table, cutting cake and passing it to the left or right. Sometimes the groom’s family sit near him and likewise for the bride. But our Lord Jesus says the Kingdom of heaven is like wedding feast, no one is greater than the other, no matter how wealthy, popular, well dress, how attractive, or just well loved, all people in the kingdom of heaven have same statues in life, the world of God just calls them, saints and citizens of God’s household. Do you look forward to the kingdom of heaven, where those who love God, and love each other as brothers and sisters, look  and love at each as equals and they say all lives matter. Personality I can’t wait, really tired of the world of hate and Satan’s sheep who practice acts of hate. God bless you all, the Lord loves you and so do I. Samuel H.
