Mark 4:30-32 Kingdom of God Great Growth Parable
30 And He said, “How shall we picture the kingdom of God, or by what parable shall we present it? 31 It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the soil, though it is smaller than all the seeds that are upon the soil, 32 yet when it is sown, it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden plants and forms large branches; so that the birds of the air can nest under its shade.”
The worship of Yahweh existed before the teaching of Jesus, but mostly in the land of Israel. The people of Israel try to keep the Lord God of creation to themselves but when people hear great teachings they wanna hear more and be students of those teachings. When Jesus came into the world He created and picked twelve normal men, then taught them the meaning of life, the love of the Lord spread Globally. Jesus is still teaching in short stories called parables and numerous of them related to agriculture or planting crops or trees. Jesus told His followers the kingdom of God is like a tiny mustard seed once it grows into a tall tree. The fake religious leaders of the time Jesus walked around teaching and healing, trying to suppress His message of the Lord’s love, but they failed miserably. The small gospel seed Jesus gave to His Disciples only grew larger into a worldwide movement. Just seven weeks after Jesus’ resurrection and fifth days later, the kingdom of God’s growth well passed twelve man. One the festival day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit heard the disciples’ prayers and requests to teach others the gospel and answered them and gave them power to witness to many. Because of the love of God’s children and their desire to share the gospel three thousand people were saved and baptized that day.
Each Disciple went in a different direction of the then known world and spread the loving messages of Jesus Christ. Some to Damascus, to Antioch, to Asia Minor, to Greece, and finally to Rome. It is believed James went to Spain, Thomas to India, Matthew went to Ethiopia and Bartholomew to Armenia. The Apostle Paul was chosen by the Lord and he also spread the good new gospel and we are blessed with his writing that takes up the majority of the New Testament. We as Christians we can rest in shade under the leaves on limbs of huge mustard trees. You and I should also plant the mustard seed of hope, to our family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and even enemies, then let our community have a forest of mustard trees, Amen. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves you and so do I. Samuel H.
