Luke 8:15 Gospel Seed Falls Like Rain Parable
The parable about Sower who seeds everywhere, is a very important short story Jesus tells to His followers. It tells the gospel message is available to all the men and women the Lord created, whatever they do with it, depends on each individual’s heart. I kinda knew this parable would take a lot to explain because there is so much here that is told from different points of view Matthew 13:1-9;18-23, Mark 4:1-20; and Luke 8:4-15. But only from the gospel of Matthew 13:14-15 does Jesus repeat the words of the prophet Isaiah, how the Lord is the sower of His holy word and that is don’t not return to Him empty.
Isaiah 55:10 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; 11 So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
When the good soil of a person’s heart takes in the seed the Lord gives, he or she discovers the Father God’s word truly provides happiness. The sowing seed parable tells of other soils taking the gospel message and having belief in God, but their belief was short lived. But having belief is not enough, as to knowing the gospel message, Scripture says demons know who Jesus is.
A seed growing with good soil is a combination of the seed willingly letting the good soil provide it plenty of minerals to feed it. Good soil keeps minerals by fresh new rainwater that falls from the heavens above. As the seed grows, the light from the sun shines down on the green leaves and it lets the new plant feed off the sun and the plant produces energy to help it go. All of the elements are what a Christian needs to all Jesus to help them grow strong in his or her faith.
You need a surrender of self;
Philippians 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
They need His Spiritual food, His daily bread which is the word of God;
And We need the light of Jesus, to go and live also to be good growing crops of His gospel seed;
The parable of the Sower tells me and you, the whole world is Lord’s garden. He loves mankind so much He sends His good news like showers of rain down on all kinds of soils. It is totally about freewill, He doesn’t make you listen or follow Him, but it is only accepting the true meaning you really made for, that being true happiness. I really hope you decide to let Him in your heart and the whole world will see you go, especially your Father God. God bless you all, the Lord loves you and so do I. Samuel H
This is a very thoughtful post tying the parable of the sower into several other readings! I agree wholeheartedly with the importance of being grounded in good soil as opposed to more hostile environments. That way we can weather the storm even when things become difficult. I recently wrote about this in my own post “Parables and Positive Psychology.” Positive psychology is the scientific study of well-being and happiness, and I tie it into the teachings of Jesus. Feel free to check out the content anytime, I think you would find the content interesting. Feel free to offer any comments/reflections you may have on it as well. I hope to see you there but if not, great post, I hope you are doing well, and God bless you!
Me too! I’m gonna be working on the parable of the landowner and laborers very shortly! I look forward to checking out what you have to say, this first post was impressively tied together with other readings!
