Luke 12:35-40 Readiness of the Lord’s Coming Parable

Luke 12:35-40

35 “Be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps lit. 36 Be like men who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast, so that they may immediately open the door to him when he comes and knocks. 37 Blessed are those slaves whom the master will find on the alert when he comes; truly I say to you, that he will gird himself to serve, and have them recline at the table, and will come up and wait on them. 38 Whether he comes in the second watch, or even in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those slaves. 39 “But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have allowed his house to be broken into. 40 You too, be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect.”

How many of you sons and daughters of the Lord, are ready for the coming of Son of Man? Jesus tells us in this parable, always be ready and keep a watching eye out for His soon to arrival.  If you call yourself a slave or servant of Jesus, His is your Master, and you should be eagerly waiting for Him with full  anticipation. Are the children of God really looking forward to His return, is what I personally like to ask? With this new coronavirus or COVID-19, people are asking and hoping if and when everything will return to normal. People are losing jobs, some dine in restaurants aren’t allowed, only take-out. Physical worship service isn’t allowed, only if people practice social distances. Children have to wear uncomfortable masks to school or learn from online. The Bible predicted disease in the events that would lead to His return.

Matthew 24:6-7  You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.

The current pandemic isn’t the only issue facing the world, lawliness increases like the scriptures says in its prophetic way. We people are offended or hurt in some way, they seek personal justice or revenge. Law and order is not acceptable, unrest is the current lifestyle, it is labeled protest, but is more defined as rioting and looting. Some  people  justify violence as a means to get civil order, but the great God fearing man Dr Martin Luther King Jr that practice is full of hate, evil, darkness, and murder. If you are a good servant of the Lord, you can see with your Christian’s eyes, lawlessness has increased and seems 100% acceptable, even people who say they believe in the God of love.

Matthew 24:12 Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.

Jesus is  telling His servant in this parable, be like a person is invited to a big wedding feast. Not really saying have your  tuxedos neat to be the best man, or have your bridesmaid dress, that will match the beautiful bride. In one of previous blogs,( Luke 5:36-39 The Best Wine and Garment Parable) I explain how taking on the character of Christ, is like putting on no new clothes. If the Lord is your Master, and you follow His word, then you are dressed in a readiness, for the soon coming of the Son of Man, Amen! God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves you and so do I.
