Luke 8:16-18 Be Radiant Like A Lampstand Parable
This same parable is written in the gospel of Matthew 5:14-16, the Sermon on the Mount is also in parts of Luke 6, 7 and 8. The one difference is that Jesus says you are the light of the world, if you have the beatitude of Jesus that is by following His teachings, and truly being a blessing to others.
The word of God calls Jesus the light of the word, the label His followers are called Christian means, little Jesus’. Technically we are little lights of His glory that live in the world that Jesus wants us to reach. We are just like little fireflies that fly when the sun goes away and it’s dark. When I was child, I would chase fireflies and put them in a jar to have a natural lamp in my room, but sadly they died and the light disappeared. Jesus tells me and you, the light you gain from following Him, can not be hidden. No matter what the world does, to try to hide it will still exist. The Church history is full of champions of faith, who the evil world tries to turn off their light but it still shines, in their works they did in Jesus name. There are a lot of books and publications about Christians who light Satan try to snuff out but fail every time, here are a few ; Foxe’s Book of Martyrs, the Jesus Freak book, and The Voice of the Martyrs. If you really love Jesus and His message of salvation, you can’t help but to let your light shine. You don’t have to force your beliefs on anyone. If your actions show you are truly blessed then others will approach and ask you, why are you so radiant. You can say, I have the love of Jesus in my heart, if you wanna shine ask me about Him. If you are reading this and wanna know about Jesus’ light ask me and I gladly illuminate His glory to you. God bless you all, the Lord loves you and so do I. Samuel H.
