Proverbs 8:10-11 Don’t Lack God’s Wealth

Proverbs 8:10-11 Don’t Lack God’s Wealth

Proverbs 8:10-11

10  Accept my instruction and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold. 11 For wisdom is better than jewels; And all desirable things cannot compare with her.

In the gospel of Matthew, Mark and Luke a young man who is very wealthy and a ruler, who went to Jesus asking how he could inherit eternal life. The rich young man is like many who believe Jesus is the Son of God, he calls Jesus Master and does like many when asking for Jesus for a blessing, he goes to his knees, and asks , Jesus how can I have the treasure of living forever?

Mark 10:17  And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

Jesus repeats  the words of wisdom that are written so many times in the book of Proverbs, remember My commandments follow My instruction and truly your life will be a treasure. The rich young ruler was Jewish boy that grew up learning the commandments of God and Jesus asked the young man if he knew of some of those commandments. They young man replied yes, he was taught them from his youth and still keeps the commandments of God.

Mark 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. 19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. 20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.

According to the rich young man’s quick reply, eternal life must surely be his and many would believe he had peace in his heart, cause to many by what is written in the gospel before Mark 10:20 he was rich on earth and for sure the treasure of heaven was and is his. The wisdom that is God’s  word is truly real treasure, the rich young ruler is written in three different gospels. Jesus knows what we treasure in our hearts, and to be honest with ourselves, we do too. The rich young ruler was completely honest with Jesus and that he still lack something, what was it he truly lacking ?

Matthew 19:20  The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? 21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. 22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

Jesus is the Wise Good Master and knew the rich young ruler wasn’t completely honest when he said knew the commandments of God and had kept them since his youth. By his actions of  walking away with his heart full of sorrow, the cost of eternal life was just too much for him, he was breaking the first and great commandment. The rich young ruler, true god and master was his wealth, and too difficult for him to give up his financial worldly blessing for  heavenly treasure. The rich young ruler probably inherited his wealth for his father and was very afraid to live without it . The Lord would have provided for the young man, just like He provided for all His devoted sons and daughters, but yet the young man lacked faith in the one he called the Good Master and walked away, sad. My dear friends, those who read the words I write and the words of the Lord, put the Lord first in your heart, treasure the kingdom of heaven more and first. When the Lord comes and we are all in the inheritance of our heavenly home, you and I will see more treasure then your heart can ever imagine. God bless you all, Jesus loves you and so do I, Samuel H a bond-servant of the Lord.

Job 22:23 If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored—    so clean up your life. 24 If you give up your lust for money    and throw your precious gold into the river, 25 the Almighty himself will be your treasure.   He will be your precious silver!
