James 5:12 Remain Silent If Not Honest

James 5:12

12 But above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but your yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you do not fall under judgment.

European came to the new world for religious freedom, so that they could worship God anyhow they see fit. After so many years as a colony, Thomas Jefferson, with help wrote the Declaration of Independence . One  statement from it really means a lot to a Christian like me, “ all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–‘. By a miracle of God the thirteen colonies won a war against the strong Britain empire and became the United States of America. Another great document called the Constitution was written that said we the United States of America and the founding fathers started to set laws called amendments to govern this young new nation. The freedom of religion was the first amendment the founding father wrote so that the citizens of new nation deserve to find a life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Since religion is such an important part of the birth of the USA, the holy bible plays an important part in some government practices.  One is going to court and placing your right hand on the bible and making a swear that everything you say is truthful, so help you God. The other is when a government official is sworn in, puts their hand on a Bible and makes a swear to uphold the laws of the US Constitution and keep it safe from enemies foreigner and domestic, so help you God. The founding fathers say they used the holy Bible to write these important documents but they do have one difference.

Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?

The human sinful heart will lie, and the bible you make the oath you swear on means 100% or 100ke % no, the Lord doesn’t want a maybe, or but, or if or even a little white lie. We have had 48 Presidents so far in the nation of the USA,  and history is full of sinful behavior scripture doesn’t support. President Abraham Lincoln was pretty solid in the Bible, but Ulysses S Grant was drunk, FDR and JFK both add sexual relationship with a woman other than wife. In recent history we had a President who took an oath on the BIble and said so help me God I will tell the truth in court. Bill Clinton was asked if he had a sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky and he said, I did not have a sexual relationship with that woman. But a serious investigation proved that statement was a lie, and he was guilty of perjury and got out of the criminal act , because his party supported his political belief rather than lie and adultery he committed after he made an oath on the US Constitution and the Holy Bible! We know the man’s laws are full of mistakes, the US government has added extra amendments to support a group they left  out the first time. Then they add laws that goes against God’s laws, like abortion, same-sex marriage, then they make selling and drinking alcohol illegal then legal again. People say they took prayer out of school, hey if was my child, I would tell my child, the school or class does not need to hear your prayer, just say a little prayer between and God and say something like,” Thank you Jesus,” If we read the Holy Bible we know every kingdom of the earth will pass away and the Lord kingdom is last forever and ever and His holy word will be forever and ever and eternal. Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that He would lie, Nor a son of man, that He would change His mind; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
