James 5:7-8 He Knows Rain Is Coming
When I prepare a devotional I will use many different English Bible versions, I see beautiful in each translation. When it comes to the word patient, I personally like the King James Version says; longsuffering . The definition of patients as an adjective is this; bearing pains or trials calmly or without complaint, as a noun is this; an individual awaiting or under medical care and treatment. Well brothers and sisters, as children of God, we are longsuffering, wanting the Lord to come and end this world of sin, so that we can be healed of its sickness in the kingdom of heaven.
Revelation 22:2 in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
In many biblical teachings, agriculture is used which is easy for the people of hearing and reading the teaching to understand. Supermarkets or grocery stores were not common these days and many people grew their food. If any occupation knows about patience it is farming, but it is more than an occupation it is a way of life. In 1978 Paul Harvey a American radio broadcast, delivered a speech titled “ So God Made A Farmer’. He started his speech by saying “ And on the 8th day, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, “I need a caretaker.” So God made a farmer.’. Now most people who study the word of God, know the land would not be so hard to work, if sin had not entered the paradise God had created. But since it had, a farmer’s job is very long and hard, usually starting before sunrise and ending at sunset. Paul Harvey said a farmer has a period in his daily life he has to be patient and wait; “come home hungry, have to wait for lunch until his wife’s done feeding visiting ladies and tell the ladies to be sure and come back real soon — and mean it.” So God made a farmer.” and “ God said, “I need somebody willing to sit up all night with a newborn colt. And watch it die.’ Jesus teaches the parable about judgment day, called the sower of the seed, in Matthew 13:1-16 , Mark 4:1-20 and Luke 8:4-15 . If we as the children of God think we go through longsuffering by ourselves, waiting for the day of the Lord to take us away from this world of pain and sin, we need to read His word a little more.
The Lord God has been waiting a long time for everything to restore back to the paradise He made in Genesis chapter one. So if He can endure like a farmer who plants his seed and patiently watches his crop grow and ready to go with all his labor and collect a wonderful harvest, you and I can wait for more children of God to be part of the harvest. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves you and so do I. Samuel Head
