9 Honor the Lord from your wealth, And from the first of all your produce; 10 Then your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.
God and money , subjects many love to talk about and others don’t want to go there. Giving tithes and offerings was the practice at the beginning of God’s word. It is a form of, giving back a part of what is God’s,which was already His. In Genesis chapter 4 a form of worship takes place, Cain was a gardener ( cultivator), and Abel took care of a flock of animals. Each bought their offering of worship to God, Cain’s was rejected and Abel was pleasing to God. As a result, Cain got jealous of Abel and killed him, and tried to hide him. The New Testament gives glory to the gift of sacrifice Abel gave and it is still Abel’s testimony.
The major debate is giving a tithe and offering a form of worship in the New Testament, or did Christ’s death on the cross, stop all that. A New Testament letter of Paul’s, says of the offering of our bodies a pleasing sacrifice of worship to God. Many people hold on to their wealth to provide food, clothes, and shelter for themselves and their families.
If a Christian has doubt or worries in their mind and heart that the Lord, does give provisions and if they hold to their income to for those provisions, do they have more trust in themselves, and have they made money their master? The scripture of Proverbs 3:5-9 is saying to put all your trust in the Lord and lean not on ourselves if we refuse,it can cause a lack of trust, who do we make our god? The idea of tithing and offering is in Malachi 3:10, say, test God and He will provide for you, repeating Proverbs 3:10 says. Verse 8 to 9 of Malachi 10 if you don’t tithe and offer, it is robbing God, and you will be cursed. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to be called a thief of God. Be a cheerful giver to the Lord and trust Him, and I know you will be blessed. God bless you all, Jesus the provider loves you and so do I. Samuel J Head.
