Psalm 23:5 Feed My Sheep the Shepherd Told Me

Psalm 23:5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows.

The Lord my Shepherd prepares a meal for me and my enemies at the same table, we are supposed to share the same food and drink. It can be very hard, difficult for me and you even talk to an enemy much less ask them to pass a bowl of bread. Jesus the Good Shepherd did this Himself at the last supper, unlike me and you, He broke bread and poured wine to share it with His friends and enemies, not only that but He washed their feet also. The gospel of Matthew, Mark ,Luke and the letter of 1  Corinthians,  tell of last supper and communion, only the gospel of John tells of Jesus washing all His disciples. Jesus the Good Shepherd knew He was sharing a table with His enemy but He broke bread with Him any ways.

Matthew 26:20  Now when evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the twelve. 21 And as they were eating, He said, “Truly I say to you that one of you will betray Me.” 22 Being deeply grieved, they began saying to Him, each one: “Surely it is not I, Lord?” 23 And He answered, “He who dipped his hand with Me in the bowl is the one who will betray Me. 24 The Son of Man is going away just as it is written about Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.”

The Good Shepherd Jesus didn’t stop eating or share His meal with His enemy nor did he, they even dip bread in the same bowl. Judas wasn’t the only one to betray Jesus, all of His so called friends ran away to save their own skin and one ran away naked.

Mark 14:50 And His disciples all left Him and fled. 51 A young man was following Him, wearing nothing but a linen sheet over his naked body; and they seized him.

What can we learn from our Savior and Good Shepherd who shared a meal in the presence of His enemies. Jesus never picked His enemies, His enemies picked Him. Judas the betrayer couldn’t live with himself, past judged himself and killed himself. The other  disciples never stop seeking and when they see again, He has a meal already prepared for them, and all He says is come and eat.

John 21:9 So when they got out on the land, they saw a charcoal fire already made and fish placed on it, and bread. 10 Jesus *said to them, “Bring some of the fish which you have now caught.” 11 So Simon Peter went up and hauled the net to land, full of large fish, 153 ; and although there were so many, the net was not torn. 12 Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples ventured to inquire of Him, “Who are You?” knowing that it was the Lord. 13 Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and the fish likewise.

Toby Mac the Christian recording artist made a powerful statement, Jesus the Good Shepherd, knew the heart of Judas, but washed his feet anyways, then sat at the same table and ate the bread and drank the wine with him anyway. If you truly understand the love of Jesus, you should make no one your enemy and treat all with love and mercy. God bless you all, the Shepherd loves you and so do I. Samuel J Head

Proverbs 25:20 Like one who takes off a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar on soda, Is one who sings songs to a troubled heart. 21 If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;

John 13:34  I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
