25 And a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 And He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?” 27 And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” 28 And He said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this and you will live.” 29 But wishing to justify himself, he said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
An educated man asks interesting questions that all people want to learn from the Lord, “ how do I Inherit eternal life?”. Jesus asked the attorney if he knew what scripture said, and the lawyer already knew the answer of the question he asked Jesus. The man replied with two parts of the Torah, cause the passage is not in one part, but spread apart, but they but say the same thing;
Leviticus 19:1 ‘You shall not hate your fellow countryman in your heart; you may surely reprove your neighbor, but shall not incur sin because of him. 18 You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord.
The educated lawyer knew some of the answer, but he called Jesus’ teacher and asked please elaborate how can I inherit eternal life, by loving God and my neighbor, tell me Jesus who exactly is my neighbor? Luke 10:25-37, is the parable of the good Samaritan, it is Jesus the Christ’s short stories to explain the word of God, by using every day events. How can the short story of the good Samaritan teach a person who wants eternal life and how to have a relationship with the Lord, who a neighbor is and how to love him or her? Does this parable mean, if a person hates his or her neighbor, they forfeit eternal life? Does all these groups that say the white race only matter or black lives only matter, or like ancient Israel who say the Lord was only God over their small part of the globe. As I study God’s word I will show you what the Lord shows me and what scripture tells me. God bless you, the Lord the Good Teacher loves you and so do I. Samuel H.
Matthew 22:36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the great and foremost commandment. 39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”
