Where does goodness come from & what does goodness mean & does it exist outside the characteristic of the Lord? The word goodness only appears in scripture 28 times but the word good appears 657 times. The definition of goodness is the quality of being morally good or virtuous, does that sound a behavior or human has? During Creation everything God created He called it good, starting after the first day. At the end of each day of creation God saw what He made & called it good, even when He was done with man & women, He called all His creation good.
The goodness God created didn’t last long, when the good man & women created followed a bad teaching, the goodness was replaced with bad, which scripture calls sin. Mankind wasn’t the only thing to turn bad, the weather wasn’t always pleasant, the animals that were all Adam and Eve’s pets turned wild and untamed . Even Scripture says all of creation suffers because of the bad effects of sin.
Since by Scripture it says goodness only comes from the Lord and bad comes from being away, a Christian needs the Holy Spirit to possess goodness, so to have it. When Moses asked to see God’s glory, the Lord replied saying He was passed by him only to allow Moses to see God’s face but still be able to witness His goodness and compassion, that is how me and you can have goodness, by being the presence of God.
Once in a while we might see a person in this world who seems good hearted, but that is when the world pays more attention to that person to see if they have any bad behavior hidden away. The writer of Galatians 5:22, the apostle Paul also writes nothing good dwells within him, so what hope does me & you have?
Just like children get characteristics from their parents, when we become sons and daughters Lord God, His Spirit helps us to be more like Him & goodness becomes part of our behavior. Dear Heavenly Father, help me to possess more goodness, cause sometimes I fail to show, I can go back to the old selfish and cruel way, I have no excuse. Thank you Lord, in Jesus name I pray, Amen! God bless you all, the Lord loves you and so do I. Samuel
