Galatians 5:22 The Fruit of the Spirit Is Joy

Galatians 5:22

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

The word Joy appears in the Bible 211 times, not as much as love which appears 484 times, but that doesn’t make it any less of a fruit you or I need as followers of the Lord. The secular definition of Joy is a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. The Holy Bible definition is Joy is a state of mind and an orientation of the heart. It is a settled state of contentment, confidence and hope. I think the best way to say it, the fruit of Joy given by the Holy Spirit, help a Christian look at everything with peace & happiness no matter what, cause the Lord God is control & if you or I trust in Him, & the Joy He offers is like good medicine for a soul that is sick in this sinful & chaotic word.

Proverbs 17:22 A joyful heart is good medicine, But a broken spirit dries up the bones.

In the current situation, where we in a worldwide pandemic of COVID-19 we can see how the fruit of Spirit Joy, can help a Christian maintain his or her Joy. It’s very easy to have Joy when everything is going our way, it’s like watching children at a playground or a birthday party. The children don’t have a care in the world, they can play with their friends & exchange laughs & have some sweet birthday cake & their parents like them play as much as possible to let them wear out their sugar rush. But the fruit of Spirit Joy, is to help a Christian to maintain hope & happiness, when life isn’t easy, the Holy Bible says it helps build strong endurance & the Lord is testing our faith.

James 1:2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

As a Christian I am relaxed & have joy that the signs of the time show Jesus is coming soon, other people outside the faith, have no joy. They are shooting people who are not wearing a mask or not following social distancing. I even saw on TV a man pull out a pistol at a supermarket & waving it around, cause he was scared to death, plus he was wearing a mask & latex gloves. But like Proverbs 17:22 says he was sick in his heart, cause he doesn’t have the Joy, which is fruit of the Spirit, that comes from the living God. Joy is reward given to the followers of the Lord who please Him;

Ecclesiastes 2:26 For to a person who is good in His sight He has given wisdom and knowledge and joy, while to the sinner He has given the task of gathering and collecting so that he may give to one who is good in God’s sight. This too is vanity and striving after wind.

Maybe that is why we see wild people going crazy, & getting violent, they don’t make God happy & God gives them no Joy. Serving God comes with rewards, but the ungodly also have the love & joy, but they have limits, it comes from people, places, or events. When their jobs are on hold or go away, when a person we love is dishonest to you or hurts, that joy is gone. When a school graduation is canceled , we can’t see our children wear a cap & gown & receive a diploma, that joy is gone also. When sport events are canceled & there is no hope of seeing our favorite team whe big trophy, that Joy is gone also. Where does true Joy come from, it comes from obeying the Lord & His words. Some people believe Joy comes from doing whatever is right in our own eyes, & having no laws or rules or with anarchy, but how can there be joy with anarchy. There is no Joy in lawlessness, only fear. My dear friends, let us surrender more to God & will feel Joy, from the Holy Spirit & we can dance like King David dance, cause will feel the presence of the Lord with us. God bless you all, the Lord loves you & so do I. Sam H.

John 15:10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.11 These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.
