Exodus 6:19-20 Jochebed A Daughter of God, Mother of Moses

Exodus 6:19-20

19 The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to their generations. 20 Amram married his father’s sister Jochebed, and she bore him Aaron and Moses; and the length of Amram’s life was one hundred and thirty-seven years.

The name Jochebed is Hebrew word meaning the “Glory of Yahweh or the Glory of God’. Jochebed let the glory of God shine in the way, she obeyed His word rather than the law of the land. When the Egyptian Pharaoh were frightened the Hebrew slaves would  Be fruitful and multiply, & outnumber them & someday start a rebellion, they gave a demanding order that Hebrew boys be thrown into mighty nile river, so that baby Hebrew boys would die;

Exodus 1:15 Then the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, one of whom was named Shiphrah and the other was named Puah; 16 and he said, “When you are helping the Hebrew women to give birth and see them upon the birthstool, if it is a son, then you shall put him to death; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live.”

But a Hebrew woman named Jochebed feared God more than the Egyptian king, when she gave birth to her son, Moses she said he was beautiful & with the love of God in her heart, she knew it went against the law of God to kill her son. She trust the Lord well enough to let Moses go by the mercy of her God, to make a basket that would float & let him & his basket to up the river & a Egyptian princess , also saw Moses was beautiful Hebrew boy, but she took him as her son, rather then have him murder & go against her father’s cruel rule. The Egyptian Princess was unable to nurse her new Hebrew son she adopted, so she asked a young Hebrew girl to take the child to a woman who was able to feed him & release him, when he was old enough to eat solid food. The young girl was Moses’ older sister & took her brother back to Jochebed to be nurse & feed, & Jochebed was even paid to breastfeed Moses , by the Egyptian Princess. But Jochebed gave her son more mother’s milk to feed him, while she nurses, when he is hungry, she whispers & sings the words of God, spiritual food, to let him educate him about the God she loves. Ancient Hebrew weaned their children for about 2 or 3 years, so when Moses was returned to the Egyptian Princess, he knew Hebrew songs & that gave Yahweh glory. Because of Jochebed’s teaching, Moses could never accept he was Egyptian royalty, & saw how Egyptian he grew up with & went to school with & learn of the Egyptian’s god, that he was Egyptian also. It deeply troubled him to see his true brothers & sisters oppressed  & he took matters into his own hands & killed a Egyptian man. In Moses’ guilt , he ran far away for his Hebrews & away Egyptian punishment that he would have probably received. Many years later when Moses, a very old man, receives a burning message for the great  I AM. Yahweh. The message Moses received was that Great I AM, heard His people suffering & prayers for freedom, God had told  Moses, Moses was gonna be His delivery of His people into freedom. God used Moses which the Bible says Moses was & is the meekest man to ever live on this planet;

Numbers 12:3(Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)

Moses learned how to meek & humble like God, from Jochebed, who was meek & humble enough, to trust  God with her beautiful son & let her little baby boy go up the river,because she, Yahweh created the river, where she let  her son go completely into  God’s guidance. On this Mother’s Day , let us remember that a good mother is a Godly woman & she will raise her children according to God’s word, & not by the words or rules  of worldly rulers. God bless you all & to the mothers & grandmothers, Happy Mother’s day. God loves you & so do I. Sam H.

1 Thessalonians 2:6 nor did we seek glory from men, either from you or from others, even though as apostles of Christ we might have asserted our authority.
