Romans 8:5-8 Led By the Flesh

Romans 8

Romans 8:5-8

5 For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, 7 because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, 8 and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

This Bible passage talks about being those who live by flesh and those live by the Spirit. A mind led by the flesh is death, but a mind led by the Spirit is life & peace. The flesh or carnal mind wants tangible satisfaction, something that will give pleasure to someone who really only cares themselves, they do feel like they are doing something for others, but it is ultimately about making life happy.  Before I found Christ, my personal gain was to eat, sleep, work, party, get drunk or get high or stone, chase sexy women & maybe catch a few, but at the end of all, it was never enough. When my flesh was not getting satisfaction, I felt miserable. When I was working to try to earn money, to buy booze, buy drugs, have money to attract girls for a date or a party. When I had no job, I could not do the things to provide for my flesh, so I felt miserable more, but somehow, drugs was available, but for real, I never bought drugs, I was always in the right place at the right time and I had friends who would ask, Do you wanna get high. and I would say, Hell yeah. One day I remember how my father had taken me and the family to church on the Sabbath. So I started looking for a church around me  to worship at, one Sabbath while I was walking to the church, my cousin Johnny drove by me where I was going and I said to church and he said what the hell for, let’s go drink beer & shot some pool, so I went. But one day I finally made it to that church two miles from my house, and from that December day until now in 2001, I can say, I live and and set life by the Spirit. My pockets are still empty, but the Lord’s Spirit gives me satisfaction & peace like a river in my heart. If you, my beloved, are chasing after the flesh or tangible desire, I will tell you, the Spirit of God, will give you a high you will never come down from. God bless you my friends.
