Romans 8:13-17 Kill Your Flesh, or Your Flesh Will Kill You.

Romans 8:13-17

13 for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.

This piece of lovely Scriptures tells me, I need to kill my flesh, or my flesh will kill me. I know for a soldier in the Arm Force, he or she must go through boot, so that a soldier can say at the time of battle, ”Dying Time is Here.” A person is first a recruit, then goes through 6 to 13 weeks of extreme intense military training, which is call, Boot Camp. During this time a drill instructor  will prepare the recruit so he or she will become a battle ready war machine. It’s a mind game to take the civilian out of you to make someone a  (Soldier, Sailor, Marine, or Airman). The Bible say the Lord is warrior, and He lower Himself, lower than the Angels of heaven,

Hebrews 2:9 But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.

Jesus did not have to die in the flesh, that He took on to be God with us  (Immanuel), but did it cause He loves me and you, and like a soldier, Jesus says no greater love no one have for another, then to lay their life for their friend;(John 15:13). When me and you sacrifice our flesh and sinful natural, the Spirit of the Lord will come into me and you. It is not an overnight success to be transformed or even 13 weeks like Boot Camp, it’s a lifetime to be willingly to let the Spirit of the Lord be your drill instructor, but with still calm voice. I so much want to be a child of God and I bet you want to be a son or daughter and call Him, “Abba! Father!” I have so bad lately let my sinful flesh get me in trouble, and want to be corrected by Him. So I need to Kill my flesh or it will Kill me, I want & need the prayer of you and church family, cause I am far from I want my relationship to be with my Father God. Special Thanks to my brother in Christ, Pastor Bob, for helping me with this devotional, telling me about boot camp and your precious prayers. God bless you for your service to this country and to the Lord. Samuel Head

John 11:52 and not for the nation only, but in order that He might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad. 53 So from that day on they planned together to kill Him.
