Romans 2:25-29 Circumcision a Sign of Loyalty and Faithfulness
The Lord made a sign of circumcision that was an agreement between Himself and Israel, that He would be their faithful God. If those who accepted the Lord’s covenant promise , it required the removal of flesh (foreskin) from the man. In ancient Biblical times, if the head of the household, who was usually the husband or eldest father, followed the Lord, his household was saved.
Acts 16:31 They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” 32 And they spoke the word of the Lord to him together with all who were in his house. 33 And he took them that very hour of the night and washed their wounds, and immediately he was baptized, he and all his household.
Like circumcision, wedding bands & are signs or symbols of a marriage. On a wedding day a man & woman will say vows to each & until death we part, they exchange a golden band, & the husband kisses his new bride. These wedding bands are a sign they belong to each other & to others, I’m taken & for you, I’m off limits. If a husband or wife has temptation & looks & has a desire (covet) to be unfaithful, husband/wife has broken the vow or covenant he/she made on their wedding day. That is what Paul is preaching here in (Romans 2:25-29) a sign of circumcision or a wedding band, meaning nothing if are unfaithful in the promise to your Lord God. Words of broken promises can really hurt someone, who really loves you more themselves, even the Almighty God. The Holy Bible says the Lord is deeply hurt & is brokenhearted, when we are unfaithful, cause He knows that our love for Him is meaningless. Dear beloved, let us remember & return to our first love , our Father God, who is the best provider we could have, as a husband or a wife. God bless you all, devotional sent by Samuel H
