Psalm 23:1 He Is My Shepherd, Nothing Else Matters

Psalm 23:1

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

So much of the gospel is in Psalm 23:1 that it is no wonder it is so treasured by believers. What does humanity want, what do the people of the planet earth really want? I remember when I was a little  boy and I was in bed,  I asked my daddy why was born and living, his reply was because me and your mom prayed and asked God for a boy and you were born, same as your sister and brother. Is that what Shepherd gives to those who allow Jesus to be their Lord, the meaning of being alive and existing. In the late 1990’s  attended a seminar that lasted a weekend, and it was run by a group called Landmark Foundation. It was a program about telling people how to have a more positive life , with more quality , peace of mind and with more freedom to express myself. The program wasn’t cheap then and now it cost about $175 and I sat through the whole three days, wanting to learn the meaning of life. On Sunday, the final day of the seminar they sum it all by saying,” The meaning of life is empty and meaningless and it means nothing that it is empty and meaningless.”  A reasonable person might say, $175 to learn this, If  a person who really wants to learn the meaning of life a Bible can be bought for a cheap price or given away by most churches. All life created on earth was made to give please God, with glory and honor.

Revelation 4:11 “You are worthy, O Lord our God,   to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.”

Many people who read the English Bible like the romance language the King James version read and how poetic Psalm 23 sounds, but the NIV and the NLT being more clear meaning to the scripture.

New International Version A psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing

New Living Translation The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need.

Mega-churches are usually run by those who preach the prosperity gospel. They teach the Lord will give a wealthy financial blessing if we simply believe in God , but are the parking lot full of Lamborghinis, Porsche or Rolls Royce, not likely. True believers of the God who allow the Lord might not even own a building called a church. My church family first met at my sister’s house, Mrs. Austin. As we grew with new members, we worshipped together at a VFW,  that is where former military veteran meet. As we sang songs of worship and heard God’s word, we didn’t think of numerous photos of  soldiers on the wall, we only gave God glory and the worship He desires. The gravel parking lot doesn’t have fancy expensive automobiles, but maybe Ford’s, Chevy, Dodges or a Honda. Within our congregation is the flock of people who say Lord be our Shepherd, we are  wealthy  in your presence, for we know we shall not be in want. God bless you all, the Shepherd loves you and so do I. Samuel J Head.

Matthew 9:35  Jesus was going through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness. 36 Seeing the crowds, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. 38 Therefore, plead with the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”
