Psalm 22:24 I Need Thee Every Hour

Psalm 22:24

For he has not ignored or belittled the suffering of the needy.     He has not turned his back on them,    but has listened to their cries for help.

The messianic prophecy written in Psalm 22, tells the followers of Jesus that in times of suffering, cry out to God and He will hear the needy. But that is the whole to Psalm 22 and the whole Bible. It is the needy who know they need God, for guidance. In 1872 a woman named Annie Sherwood Hawks wrote the classical hymn, “I Need Thee Every Hour”. She has written numerous hymnals like 400 , but it is her hymn, “ I Need Thee Every Hour,” that is well known. Early in life at the age of 14, she had a gift of using scripture to write poems and submit them to a local newspaper . The hymn is her personal testimony of how she felt as a mother of three daughters, raising them,  keeping her household in order and feeling very busy, of how a busy life can cause someone to feel distant from God. On a June morning she stated that she felt near the Master, and the words to, ‘’ I Need Thee Every Hour,’ fill her mind and write down the song that is sung in many churches. The lyrics of the hymn reflect the words of .

Psalm 22: 1 My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Far from my help are the words of my groaning. 2 My God, I cry out by day, but You do not answer; And by night, but I have no rest. 3 Yet You are holy, You who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel. 4 In You our fathers trusted; They trusted and rescued them. 5 To You they cried out and they fled to safety; In You they trusted and were not disappointed. -11 Do not be far from me, for trouble is near; For there is no one to help. – 19 But You, Lord, do not be far away; You who are my help, hurry to my assistance.

Read  the lyrics to  Annie  Hawks’ hymn which is her desire to, I need God need me.

“I Need Thee Every Hour” I need thee every hour , Most gracious Lord, No tender voice like thine, Can peace afford, I need thee oh I need thee ,Every hour I need thee, Oh bless me now my savior I come to thee, I need thee every hour, Stay thou nearby ;  Temptations lose their power, When thou art nigh, I need thee oh I need thee , Every hour I need thee, Oh bless me now my savior, I come to thee, I need thee every hour, Most holy one, Oh make me thine indeed, Thou blessed son , I need thee oh I need thee, Every hour I need thee, Oh bless me now my savior , I come to thee,  Oh I need thee, I need thee, Oh bless me now my savior, I come to thee ,

Someone with a close  relationship with the Lord is truly needy and knows He is always near, in good times and bad times.  A true needy Christian knows God will hear the prayers and answer them according to His will and not theirs. A double-minded Christian, a person who doesn’t get their daily bread, that doesn’t attend any assembly and worship with another Christian, will only go to God with prayers when their way isn’t working anymore. Mrs Annie Hawks  read and knew scripture, she knew that during a busy day even as a mother, she knew she needed the Lord every hour. In the current times of trouble and hardship, the people who make their voices heard say that they are unhappy, because they have been disappointed by their governing powers disappointed by family and friends. We don’t need the word of God to tell us, kings, presidents, senators, and congressmen will turn their ears from voice away from the people they serve. The Lord God, will never disappoint those who truly fully trust in Him. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves you and so do I. Samuel Head.

Psalm 86:1 Incline Your ear, Lord, and answer me; For I am afflicted and needy. Protect my soul, for I am godly; You my God, save Your servant who trusts in You. 3 Be gracious to me, Lord, For I call upon You all day long.
