Psalm 22:16 The Church of Dogs
I lived with a couple once and they had a pit bull named Isaac, very friendly. sometimes He would crawl into bed with me and believe it or not, this big pit bull dog would make the bed shake if there was a thunderstorm and I had to wait for the storm to pass or go to the floor to sleep. But dogs who are not tamed, or wild or even have rabies are vicious and can be deadly. On August 23rd a poor girl named Adrieanna was viciously attacked by a pack of five mixed Rottweiler-mix and pit bull dogs. Witnesses said they heard the girl screaming, “help me! Help me!” The girl even knew one of the dog’s names calling out “Boscoe stop ,! ” The dogs were so strong they dragged the girl and tossed her body in the air. Two police officers came to help the girl and yell at her to run and jump a fence, and one of the officers shot at one dog and killed it. The officers stated that Adrieanna’s body was full of bite marks and her blood. According to Wikipedia about 30 to 50 people in the US, die of fatal dog attacks. Jesus our Messiah felt like Adrieanna at the cross, and vicious evil dogs were all around Him. The people were barking and forming at the mouth their evil insults and words of mockery at Him. He didn’t have a yard to run across or He didn’t see police officers with weapons to even shoot and kill one of the evil dogs. Poor Adrieanna maybe had a little bit of hope, but Jesus felt none nailed and pinned to the cross , He cried out in verse one and 2 of Psalm 22, “ My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, and from the words of My groaning? O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear; And in the night season, and am not silent.’ As I start to prepare I will look at different English versions of the Bible, cause I normally use the New American standard Bible. The NASB said a band of evildoers has encompassed me and I said to myself, that might be hard for some to understand. The KJV said the word assembly, CSB said gang, NIV said pack of evil villains, ESV said company and the one I picked the NKJV said congregation, and you know what word came to my mind brothers and sisters, the word church. You may not go to a church, but the word church means, an assembly or congregation of worshippers. Another word came to my mind, religion, and it means a social group of people with the same beliefs or behaviors. So Psalm 22:16 is saying the people who insult Jesus, mock Jesus, use violence against Jesus or any of His followers are a church of evil vicious dogs. Let that sink in brothers and sisters, the people of the world are either part of the body of Christ, and worship Him, or you worship Satan, and you are part of his congregation. So let me ask the question: do you love Jesus the Son of God, or are you an evil dog? One of the criminals at the screen of Jesus crucifixion, who the Roman and Jew saw a dog, saw Jesus as Lord of the kingdom of heaven asking to be remembered. Jesus took away that criminal temporary suffering and told him, soon you will be with Me in Paradise, ( Luke 23:39–43)Amen and Amen!! God bless you all, Jesus loves you and so do I. Samuel J Head.
