Psalm 22:14-15 All In A Day’s Work, It Is Finished

Psalm 22:14-15

14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It is melted within me.15  My strength is dried up like a piece of pottery, and my tongue clings to my jaws; And You lay me in the dust of death.

During the time of Christ crucifixion the Roman soldiers were only doing what their commanding authorities told them to do. That is the duty of those who serve in the military force of the government or empire. In the prophetic message written in Psalm 22:14, it says my bones are out of joint. When the Romans were nailing Jesus Christ to the wooden cross, they treated Him as a part of daily labor. One soldier might say, hold Him still while I nail Him, another might say His arm isn’t long enough. So the soldiers who want to get the job done, suddenly pull hard enough on Jesus’ arms or legs so that the nail will go into where it will fit. So it is very easy to understand why the bones of Jesus might be out of joint or place. His heart is like wax and just melting as He lays nailed against a wooden cross. The joints of His bones are the only parts of His body in pain, but just imagine being stuck in one position for hours and hours of a day, and let’s add to that completely naked for all to see you. The Savior’s muscle must have been very painful and in agony,  nailed down, a person’s body has limited moving it can do. The human body will try to survive no matter what condition it is in. A person nailed to the cross is given a small piece of word to support their feet. With the person’s arms stretch out the upper part of the body and it’s the interior organs work harder. The work of the heart and lungs increases and that is how a person really dies on the cross, they just die of complete  exhaustion. Not only did Jesus’ heart fail, but His whole complete body could not do anymore and shut down. When Jesus stated it was finished in John 19:30, not only did He fulfill the promises paying the plenty of sin and providing salvation, but His body was done working and His spirit left His body.

John 19:30 Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.

The Roman soldiers were just doing their job, by punishing Jesus like  a criminal, they were only obeying the commands of Pontius Pilate. Because of the Roman soldiers’ experiences with crucifixion and how long it took for a person to die, when He saw Jesus give up His spirit  and die all of sudden, all he could say,” Truly this is the Son of God!!”Are you prepared to say Jesus you  truly are the Son of God, and say thank you for what He went through for me and you. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves you and so do I. Samuel Head

Mark 15:39 And when the centurion, who was standing right in front of Him, saw that He died in this way, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”
