Proverbs 9:13-18 Deadly Smoke Signals

Proverbs 9:13-18

13 A woman of foolishness is boisterous, She has a lack of understanding and knows nothing. 14 She sits at the doorway of her house, On a seat by the high places of the city, 15 Calling to those who pass by, Who are going straight on their paths: 16 “Whoever is naive, let him turn in here,” And to him who lacks understanding she says, 17 “Stolen water is sweet; And bread eaten in secret is pleasant.” 18 But he does not know that the dead are there, That her guests are in the depths of Sheol.

The idea that sin is beautiful, attractive, and fun but still a foolish sin is what the wisdom of God is trying to teach and explain. All such lifestyles lead to unhappiness, confusion, emptiness, and ultimately painful death. God told Adam the forbidden fruit in the center of the garden of Eden was very beautiful, but don’t eat it or you will die.

Genesis 2:9  And [in that garden] the Lord God caused to grow from the ground every tree that is desirable and pleasing to the sight and good (suitable, pleasant) for food; the tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the [experiential] knowledge (recognition) of [the difference between] good and evil.

 The word scoffer and mocker is written in Proverb 9 and it means, this person is very prideful about their sinful lifestyle and they want to tell others and gain others to join them. Misery loves company, but the mocking sinner doesn’t know he or she is foolish; they repeat themselves over and over. Wisdom is a warning label on a package of cigarettes, that says smoking may lead to cancer but the fools ignore that warning and later in life die of lung cancer, emphysema and it lowers the human body immune system, so smoke opens their body to get sick easier. Cigarette warning labels might say, cigarettes contain Carbon monoxide, which is colorless, odorless gas poison and they say is like sucking the exhaust pipe of automobiles.  Death may not happen very fast, but like Adam didn’t die as soon he ate the forbidden fruit he did die and is still dead.

Genesis 5:5 So all the days that Adam lived were 930 years, and he died.

I know many people who have health problems and the doctor will tell them, quit smoking and your health will improve or no further damage will be done and you can live longer. Take my sister, she smokes, legal and illegal stuff and she epileptic seizures usually in her sleep. The doctor said, “Come, let’s study you for a week and find out the cause of it, but you can’t smoke during the testing time. She tries for a few days because she has the will to try and survive, to watch her children grow old and see her grandchildren. But a few days without cigarettes smoke is just too but to bear so walk out of the testing clinic and keep on smoking carbon monoxide poison until others hear you cough up a lung every morning and die painfully because the words of wisdom were rejected from a cigarette package. Not listening to God’s word of wisdom and His warning is foolish,  but a real fool will continue mocking God and say let me die in my misery, so I can continue to enjoy my temporary meaningless earthly pleasure. Ecclesiastes 7:24  What has been is remote and very mysterious. Who can discover it? 25 I directed my mind to know and to investigate, and to seek wisdom and an explanation, and to know the evil of foolishness and the foolishness of insanity. 26 And I discovered as more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, whose hands are chains. One who is pleasing to God will escape from her, but the sinner will be captured by her.
