Proverbs 5:18-19 Love and Know Your Wife

Proverbs 5:18-19

18 Let your fountain be blessed And rejoice in the wife of your youth. 19 Like a loving doe and a graceful mountain goat, Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; Be exhilarated always with her love.

The Lord bless most people with a husband or wife to share life and with that blessing, He tells man and woman Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, ( Genesis 1:26-28 ). The Lord wants us to be content with our wife and husband and be faithful, to honor and love them faithfully. You would think that a man or woman of God, would be faithful and content to their spouse but unfaithfulness ( infidelity ) happens all the time. King Solomon’s father David, was guilty of infidelity, and the word of God, talks about this act of adultery. Of all the great things King David did, 2 Samuel chapter 11 calls  his act of adultery with Bathsheba a great sin. Not only was David unfaithful to his wife, but Bathsheba also got pregnant and David had Uriah Bathsheba’s husband killed trying to cover David’s shameful sin. David was like many of are, we forget the Lord God is watching us and knows all our actions good or bad. The Lord sends the   prophet Nathan to tell David’s sins are not hidden but God is aware of them all. Nathan is very creative and gets David to judge himself with what little wisdom David has. King David was his father’s shepherd, so David knew very well how sheep are treasured  by a sheep farmer. Nathan tells of a city where two-man live, one wealthy who has many flocks of sheep, the other man is poor and only has one lamb. Nathan gives more detail of how much a poor man loves his one lamb, he cares for it like it is his own child or daughter. Now the rich man who had many flocks of sheep, wasn’t happy with the abundance of sheep for some lamb to eat, so he took the poor man’s lamb killed it, and ate it along with others. When David heard this story, being the man of God he thought was, got very angry and told Nathan, God’s prophet, the rich man deserves to die, imminently and deserves no compassion. Then Nathan in calm ways tells David, you are one of your soldiers and had murdered. As soon as David learns he was guilty, he begs for forgiveness, and because of God’s great grace, gave David forgiveness but the sinful act would produce consequences.

2 Samuel 12:13 Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” And Nathan said to David, “The Lord also has allowed your sin to pass; you shall not die. 14 However, since by this deed you have shown utter disrespect for the Lord, the child himself who is born to you shall certainly die.

My dear brothers and sister, if the Lord has blessed you with a wife or husband, rejoice and be glad about the gift God gave you. Many  Christians are single,  widows or widowers, but learn to be like Job. I pray for you all to receive a blessing today and pray for me to humble and grateful for God’s grace. God bless you, the Bridegroom Jesus loves you and so do I. Samuel J H

Job 1:21  He said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked I shall return there. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.”

Ephesians 5:33 Nevertheless, as for you individually, each husband is to love his own wife the same as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband.
