Proverbs 12:28 Shalom in Sheol
Proverbs 12:28
In the way of righteousness, there is life, and in its pathway, there is no death.
To read words of the Holy Bible, such as whosoever believes will not perish but have eternal life, gives hope. But witnessing a loved one dying and then attending their funeral is disheartening. Death is the wages of sin (Romans 6:23). The Lamb of God paid the penalty for sin for all who believe in His righteous death. The Lamb of God also conquered the wages of sin after His death by resurrecting back to life, proving He is the Lord once and for all. Ecclesiastes 9:5 and Hebrews 9:27 tell us all will die; that is biblical fact. Also, it is a biblical truth that eternal life is a gracious, hopeful gift in Christ Jesus. Patriarchs of the Old Testament all died but died having lived their lives full of days.
Genesis 25:8 Then Abraham breathed his last and died in a good old age, an old man and full of years, and was gathered to his people.
1 Chronicles 23:1 So when David was old and full of days, he made his son Solomon king over Israel.
King David wrote about his confidence in his resurrection in Psalm 16. That is the passage of David that Peter quoted from in his sermon in the Acts of the Apostle chapter 2. Peter said, “Adding flavor to King David’s words, has not ascended, and you know it, you Jews that are Peter said in his sermon. King David said in Psalm 16 that his hope and refuge are in God. Peter quoted David’s words,” David knew God would not allow His Holy One body to decay and that the Messiah will be resurrected and will ascend into heaven. David also knew with all his heart, soul, and mind that the Lord would resurrect him from Sheol one day and ascend him into heaven.
In my church that I love is a couple that has been married many years, John, and Sandy Weaver. She has terminal cancer, and her husband John has a bad heart with a pacemaker that isn’t working anymore. Even so, with their poor health conditions they attend church weekly if they are healthy to do so. Sandy is the church greeter and John helps her. She loves the children of the church and other members as well. They ask for prayer, but they don’t have to because the loving church is praying for the Weavers already. Even so in poor health conditions they both don’t fear death because that righteousness in Jesus will spare them and give them eternal life. The wisdom within God’s word teaches us not to fear death because we have hope. Yes, you will die, but don’t live in agony; live in hope because you are of Christ Jesus; you will not stay dead or in Sheol. God bless you all; Jesus loves you, and so do I; his living bondservant, Samuel Jerry Head.
