Proverbs 12:19 Truthful Way To Life
Truthful lips will endure forever, But a lying tongue is only for a moment.
A physical-minded person might see Proverbs 12:19 differently than a spiritual born-again Christian. It took me some study and praying to understand it. I have a step-sister, April, and she says there is nothing wrong with a little white lie. Many Christians have the same point of view if a little white lie benefits them or others for a reason. A little white lie on a job application, rental, or mortgage agreement is still a lie in God’s eyes. Those lies will exist and go on if the person gains a job or a place to live; if lying, got them there. The moment Proverbs 12:19 is talking about is not talking about physical time, like 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 2 hours, or even 80 years. But it refers to the time of human life, from when a person is born until they die. Some children are born dead like a stillborn, and many people live to be 75 or 98. Compared to how the eternal holy scripture measures time, 75 or 120 years of a lifetime is still short. The bondservants Moses, Isaiah, and James, said this in their biblical writings.
Moses writes in Psalm 90 to teach our hearts to have wisdom, oh God. The book of Proverbs is all about wisdom to teach a child to have godly long lives. The moment in Chapter 12, verse 19, means when a person lies and continues to live a lie when they pass away, they perish. A wise child of God will learn not to lie, and when they do, they repent to God and the person or people they lied to, and that child will have everlasting life. When I was in middle school, I started to say swear words. My friend then told me, “Sam, don’t curse; each curse word is another step down into hell,” The way to Father God’s kingdom is by following Jesus, the way the truth, the way to life. Lying will get no one to the heavenly kingdom. God bless you all; Jesus loves, and so do I. Samuel Jerry Head, the Lord bondservant.
