Proverbs 11:18 Sowing A Heritage

Proverbs 11:18

The wicked man does deceptive work, but he who sows righteousness will have a sure reward.

It is supposed to be a legitimate occupation, and a pastor is someone who feels as if God is calling him to do so. A priest has different titles throughout scripture, such as preacher, rabbi, or shepherd.  Those in the field of theology are referred to as clergymen. Being a priest is more than a profession; a pastor feels like God has called them to be a shepherd. Scripture warns a priest to be free from the love of money. A priest’s character should be humble, like the graceful Jesus he represents. But pastors are just like you and me, they fall short of God’s glory, and sadly, a few fall very short. Prosperity gospel preaching results from falling way short of gospel truth. Prosperity gospel preachers teach God will make you wealthy, healthy, and wise. Sadly those who preach the prosperity gospel are way more wealthy than their congregation. The Catholic church began in the same manner. Selling indulgences to help build the Catholic church, and to those who purchased indulgences, salvation was guaranteed. Those who preach the prosperity gospel believe the same, and those listening do likewise. They preach God will make you wealthy, healthy, and wise and heaven is yours if you give, give, give to that pastor’s church. Jim Bakker was such a pastor that he studied the field of traveling evangelism and had a real gift for it. Pat Robertson, Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), recognized Jim’s gift and gave him a job. Jim later joined another prosperity gospel preaching network. Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN). Finally, Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker started the PTL Club (Praise the Lord). Satellite and Cable television charismatic pastors the opportunity to preach God will give you heaven, lots of money, and healthy, 24/7, 365 days of the year. Jim took advantage he was a legal clergyman and tax-exempt by the IRS. Most of the tithe and offerings donated to the PTL club benefited Jim’s family, even his pets, with air-conditioned dog houses. Jim may felt like he gave back to the godly community by building Heritage USA in Charlotte, North Carolina. It had nice lodging, dining, and an amusement park for Christian families to enjoy. Jim Baker will preach God will bless you in a wealthy way if you give, give, give, and his wife Tammy will sing you a song of thanksgiving. The IRS, FBI, and FCC were looking for a way to catch Jim at his lies, and they got the chance.  Jim Bakker’s staff told Jessica Hahn to have sex with him and that she was doing God’s humble servant a loving favor. Jessica knew it was wrong for the pastor to do so, so she revealed the ungodly scandal to the public. Government agencies like the IRS, FBI, and the FCC, had more evidence to investigate Jim Baker. Jim had no choice but to resign. He knew he was guilty; there was too much evidence to prove that he committed fraud and adultery. Jim was arrested and sentenced to prison. When  Jim was released, he married again and returned to preaching on tv. Despite being found guilty, Jim was confident to know his new tv ministry after himself.  The Jim Bakker Show daily made money from the fear of the Apocalypse. Selling doomsday items to help people survive soon-coming tribulations.  When the coronavirus pandemic began in 2019, Jim Baker offered supplements that would cure COVID-19. Another government agency, the FDA, said Jim Baker’s claim was false and ordered him to stop. Jim Baker was also ordered to give back all the money he received from his false COVID-19  cure but has not because he is broken himself. There are plenty of clergymen who shepherd God’s flock with humble hearts. Always have your Bible ready to see if a person is preaching the truth, and pay attention to their character. If they love money more and do not teach biblical truth, do not listen to them preach, nor give them any tithes or offerings. God bless you all; the Lord loves you, and so do I. A bondservant of the Lord, Samuel J Head.

Hebrews 13:5 Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He, Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever abandon you,” 6 so that we confidently say, “The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?” 7 Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their way of life, imitate their faith.
