Proverbs 10:26 Smoke Break

Proverbs 10:26

Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, So is the lazy one to those who send him.

In my young adult days, between the ages of 23 to 28, I work at different restaurants. It wasn’t I went after the kind of job but once I got a job at one, with the skills I learned it was easy for me to get hired by others and make more money. At first, I knew nothing and I was just a dishwasher, but opportunities became available, cause workers come and go and the boss, would say, hey you wanna try something else. I became a seafood cook from the dishwasher, then to another restaurant, I was prep cook, then finally grill cook. As grill cook, I was responsible for running the whole kitchen during and usually, I knew who the hard workers were and who was slack, and I was okay with that until I really need that slack person to do something, but they might be taking a smoke break or the bathroom a little extra longer, so I had to do their job and my as well. I personally have nothing wrong with young people but in my experience, those who are told by my mom and dad to get a job, really don’t do much at all. Once a young boy came to work and it was his first day, somehow he said he pulled a muscle in his wrist and he was out for 2 weeks and he never really came back. The book of Proverbs was meant for wanting to learn about God and about His wisdom. The Lord wants us, to do everything well in whatever we good. Christian represents the kingdom of heaven, Joseph was a young Israelite man, he was betrayed by his brother and they sold him into slavery,( Genesis 37:18-28). Even as slave Joseph did the job he was asked to, the Lord bless Joseph’s work, and his master notice, so he put Joseph in charge of all his household.

Genesis 39:2  And the Lord was with Joseph, so he became a successful man. And he was in the house of his master, the Egyptian. 3 Now his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all that he did prosper in his hand. 4 So Joseph found favor in his sight and became his personal servant, and he made him overseer over his house and put him in charge of all that he owned. 5 It came about that from the time he made him overseer in his house and over all that he owned, the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house on account of Joseph; so the Lord’s blessing was upon all that he owned, in the house and in the field.

I wasn’t a Christian during my restaurant working days, but I knew basic what a Christian so be and not, another young man was hired. As he introduced himself, he said he went to church, love Jesus, but his job performance was slack and very flirty with female workers. Every once in a while I would remain he was slack and would swear at me. On Friday it was very busy, he was asked by multiple kitchen staff and he was too busy flirting to do his job. Finally, I was upset and said something to him and end up fighting, around kitchen knives and deep fryers but didn’t last long. I was wrong in many ways, my tempt got the best of me and I end up losing my job there later cause of bad tempter. A Christian is supposed to be good in all his or her effects, be good in other people’s eyesight our action good like fruity wine.

Matthew 5:13  “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Doesn’t matter if we are working, eating, sleeping, be good at what we do, the Lord doesn’t His name to vinegar, a bad tasting experience, the Lord doesn’t want His action make others blink their eyes, cause they can’t stand how lazy and slack a Christian can working. Don’t be slack on your works, show your boss, your co-workers you will do your jobs, Amen. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves you and so do I, Samuel J H.

Colossians 3:22 Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. 23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. 25 But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.
