Proverbs 10:25 The Solid Rock

Proverbs 10:25

When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more, But the righteous has an everlasting foundation.

The Sermon on the mount is amazing preaching given by the Son of God Himself, Jesus is teaching His people how to be blessed, how to receive the kingdom of heaven, where to receive true treasure and provisions, how to have a true relationship with God, and how to be His children and to see God’s face. The sermon on the mount is found in Matthew chapters 5,6 and 7, and some of Luke chapter 6 repeats many of what Jesus is preaching and teaching. At the end of Matthew chapter 7, Jesus said the sermon He just preached and that all of God’s word is a solid foundation that you and I, should live on. It like building a house on solid rock, cause when a strong whirlwind or any horrible storm comes, a follower of Jesus’ words, life, or life will not fall apart.

Matthew 7:24  “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine, and acts on them, will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house, and it fell—and its collapse was great.”

Iron sharpens iron as the word of God teaches, and what better way to teach and learn than from our testimony and other Christian’s testimonies. Christian hymns or songs are usually someone’s testimony and what the Lord did for that person. I have written Bible-teaching blogs before about the origins of famous hymns. The classic hymn, “ My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less” was written in 1834 by Edward Mote’s pastor. Edward Mote was born on January 21 of 1797, and his parent owns a pub, his parents were very busy so Edward played in the streets a lot. He said he was ignorant of God in his own personal testimony but at 18 Edward got baptized. Edward was a cabinet maker, a carpenter like Joseph who rises Jesus as his own Son. As Edward was walking to work one day, the Holy Spirit put a tune in Edward’s mind and the words of, “ My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less,” he wrote down when had the chance. Edward loves God’s word and the hymn he begins to write was inspired from Jesus’ teaching Matthew 7:24-27 and also reflecting on the scripture 1 Corinthians 10:4.

1 Corinthians 10:4  and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ.

1 Corinthian 10:1-5 is about ancient Israel, which many Christian believe God’s chosen people are the Jews but did according to Bible passage they did not choose Him. Sure the Lord used Moses as a messenger to free Israel from slavery, they receive miracle after miracle but they had no foundation in God’s word. They walk through the Red Sea which the Lord split in half and closed on the Egyptian army behind them killing their enemies. They heard the faith of Moses said God would do this or that miracle and that miracle happen, but they doubt God’s word. Hearing God’s word and knowing it isn’t good enough, ancient Israel is like many Christians, they go to church, hear sermons preached, unless it put to practice and hundred percent trusted on, 100%. For sure the Lord could have released waters of the Red Sea and let crash on them and they drown to death, but they all died of doubt and a weak foundation of their personal faith. Have religion with Jesus is fine, but having a relationship with the Lord and trusting His word, builds a foundation that no storm, no life tragedy can or will destroy. How is your walk and relationship with God, bless you, my brothers and sister. Jesus loves you and so do I, Samuel J H.

1 Peter 2:6  For this is contained in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a choice stone, a precious cornerstone, And the one who believes in Him will not be put to shame.” 7 This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for unbelievers, “A stone which the builders rejected, This became the chief cornerstone,” 8 and, “A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense”; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this, they were also appointed.
