Proverbs 10:19 Social Words Real Sin

Proverbs 10:19

When there are many words, wrongdoing is unavoidable, But one who restrains his lips is wise.

When I was a young boy and growing when I was angry I would say the thing I end up regretting, when I heard what said and about to give me my punishment he would make me tell myself, “ Thank you mouth for getting me in trouble,” My mouth or should or my words can and will get me in trouble from time to time, mostly because of social media. Being on a device like a desktop, laptop, tablet, or cellphone makes me and many others feel cocky or a little extra bold, but that is false security. When many words of anger or hate are exchanged, things like social distancing or being miles apart will not stop wrongdoing from happening. According to history social media really isn’t that new, it considers the telegram sent from a  telegraph machine when social media was born. Sending a telegram and receiving it happens very fast, much faster than sending a letter by a man on horseback or even a pigeon. In 1890 the telephone was invented and communication could be by a human’s voice from miles away. As the computer and internet were invented, society got faster. Social media websites like MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are now part of life. Rather than words being exchanged in person and face to face, words and communication are digital and like the telegraph machine can happen with the distance between people. I remember when MySpace came out it was a major fad, it even made me wanna get a computer myself, otherwise, I would go to the public library and use their computer to log in. Nicknames like keyboard warriors are given to those, like me, who are very aggressive, cocky, or bold with our words or even actions. I have said a thing or made a friend that my family, friends, or even church family tell me, “ Sam, those words I saw on MySpace or Facebook weren’t so nice or not even Christ-like. Ever since social media sites have increased, and with more words being exchanged, some good or bad, many people have gotten hurt or killed by someone who lived very far away. Recently a man killed his wife who had given him life, killing her all because her Facebook relationship status went from married to single. My stepfather was recently upset, and he learned his father’s health has turned from bad to worse and his father would die soon. As for myself, I use social media a lot for my ministry and many people say, oh Facebook and Twitter are giving Christians a lot of restriction or censorship but from my own experience the unrighteous judgment or condemnation comes from other Christians. Even churches are attacked by other Christians who don’t even attend any church because the church is not right or the members are living right, but these are the same people not obeying God’s word who have forgotten or not read what Hebrews 10:25 says.

Hebrews 10:25  not abandoning our own meeting together, as is the habit of some people, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

As Christian, we are  Christ’s body and supposed to His church, our words are supposed to reflect His glory and encourage each other. Words of encouragement don’t need to be many, but only a few, as I love you or care about you or can I pray for you or y0ur family. I know I want to do my part, can you, my brothers and sisters. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus loves you and so do I, Samuel J H.

Ecclesiastes 5:2 Do not be quick with your mouth or impulsive in thought to bring up a matter in the presence of God. For God is in heaven and you are on the earth; therefore let your words be few. 3 For the dream comes through much effort and the voice of a fool through many words.
