Matthew 5:3 Help Me Lord, I Am Broken
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
When Jesus opens His mouth to deliver the greatest sermon ever heard, He says you and I are blessed, if we are poor in spirit. Being poor is kind of hard to understand, cause every person tries real hard to provide for himself or for the ones they love. We are told to go to school for an education, and go to college after high school then go to work, to show everyone you can take care of yourself and whoever you are responsible for. In Matthew 5:3, Jesus says we are blessed if we are poor in spirit, what does this mean exactly? I heard it said, sometimes a person has to hit rock bottom before they realize they need help & this is what the Lord wants you to do. It’s hard to explain just from the English Bible, the ancient Greek word written there is domain; and the definition of it is to request or beg. The major time when some begs for something is when they face death and are afraid to die; & Peter beg help is the shortest prayer in all of Scripture;
Matthew 14:30 But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Peter was pretty strong in spirit, then took his eyes off Jesus, and sank into the water he was walking on, in his despair, he begged for Lord Jesus to save him and he felt blessed to have drowned to death. By our sinful human nature, we are born with a cocky spirit, we even taught to care for ourselves. I know for myself, I can be very stubborn to ask for help, but when I hit the rock button I want someone’s help.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.
Being blessed in the spirit because we feel poor in spirit, is all over scripture. So that when a child of God says he or she begs for His help, all over scripture. He is always ready to reach out & put His hand in water, like when Peter begged to be saved from the deep water. In Beatitude Jesus will tell you and me how we can be blessed, but the first thing He wants us to do is say, ““Lord, save me! “We have to admit we are broken and need His help. God bless you all, the Lord Jesus, loves you and so do I. Samuel J Head
Psalm 34:17 The righteous cry, and the Lord hears And delivers them out of all their troubles.18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted And saves those who are crushed in spirit.19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.
