Matthew 22:1-4

1 And Jesus answered and spoke to them again by parables and said: 2 “The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son, 3 and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not willing to come. 4 Again, he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding.” ’

Another parable of Jesus explains what the kingdom of heaven is like. Jesus says the kingdom of heaven is like an invitation sent out of a wedding feast, for a wealthy king’s son and the king want all his honorable friends to be guests to be present. No invited guest accepted the humble king’s invitation and he was very insistent they come and see his son marry a beautiful and have a huge banquet. The king prepared the wedding feast as if money was no problem, he had chosen beef from fatted cattle and oxen, he hired the best butchers to cut the meat to trim the fat and have wonderful lovely steaks available. So you would have to wonder who would not go, maybe some vegetarians or vegans, but you would think a wealthy king would know his friends and maybe have planet base food or a lot of salads. How is a wedding invitation like the kingdom of heaven? When I think of the ultimate wedding invitation, I think of God’s holy word, the Bible. The Lord God is preparing the wedding day for His bride at the church of Christ and when Jesus comes to receive her and we who accept the invitation watch the wedding and take part in a huge heavenly meal like no other we have ever been invited to and gone to. If you have a Bible in your house, on your devices, take it and read it, it was never meant to be a paperweight or to collect dust or pass from family member to another member just to put a new child’s name in or a recently dead family member.
