Luke 8:43-48 A Faithful Touch
The lady from the gospel of Luke chapter 8 spent many years in poor health, and no doctor seemed could heal her. As an Israelite lady, she knew God’s word had promised a Messiah would come to save His people. Like many Jews of Israel, the lady heard rumors Jesus was the Messiah, and of His healing power. The lady also knew Jesus would be near her home soon, so she had a plan to reach out to Him. She was not the only one who wanted to meet and see Jesus for His healing touch? The lady stayed strong in her faith and determination to reach Jesus, even when many others wanted the same. Jesus and His disciples walked through the village, and a large crowd wanted Jesus’ attention. She was desperate but not discouraged and would not let large crowds be an issue between her and Jesus. So, she lowered herself to the ground as a person would pray to God. She reached her hand through the crowd of people and slightly touched the hem of Jesus’ garment. Just the slightest touch of Jesus’ garment sent His healing spirit from Him to her, and she was made whole. Jesus turned and said who touched me, but He knew. He just wanted His followers to learn and acknowledge the lady and her faithfulness. Like the lady who wished for Jesus’ healing spirit, He tried to tell her that He knew who she was. Jesus turned and asked who touched Me. His disciples were puzzled, and Peter even asked how can we know, there are so many here? The lady knew she was the one who reach out and touched Jesus. The crowd was so great and pressing, so it was not easy to run and hide. So, she lowered herself again, like in a praying manner, and admitted it was her to touch Jesus. Then, Jesus calls her His child, His daughter, and that her faith in Him had healed her and given her peace. The Holy Bible says this lady had twelve years of bleeding, which means her menstrual cycle was almost non-stop. The King James of the English Bible calls a woman’s menstrual cycle issues, and the ceremonial laws of the Bible call it unclean, and untouchable.
Males do not have menstrual bleeding cycles, but anything that keeps a person from reaching out to Jesus is an issue. They will not reach out to Jesus because they lack faith; they really do not trust Him, so, therefore, they are not spiritually well or whole. They are not a daughter or son of Father God when they don’t acknowledge Him. I know many family and friends who believe in God and worship Him, but they live with many issues and doubt the Lord. Do you want to be a child of God, do you want to heal, and do you want all your issues to go away? The prophetic word of the Holy Bible says, reach out to Jesus and touch Him with all your faith. God bless you all; Jesus the Messiah loves you, and so do I. His bondservant, Samuel Jerry Head.
